Amazing Black Adam Fan Art Sees The Rock’s Character Battling Armie Hammer As Shazam
The current DCEU film slate is as crowded as it is diverse, but arguably none of the upcoming DC movies has us more intrigued than Shazam. The film has been in development for years, and the promise of Dwayne Johnson entering the DC Extended Universe as the villainous Black Adam is nothing if not enticing. Johnson recently admitted that he personally wants to see Armie Hammer step in as the titular hero of the film, and a new piece of fan art has hit the web showing what such a face-off could look like. Check it out below.
That piece of art comes to us courtesy of Salman Artworks, and it provides us with an awesome depiction of what an Armie Hammer-led Shazam movie could look like. He seems like a perfect fit for the suit, and Hammer's own imposing physical presence could easily make him a convincing combatant against Dwayne Johnson when the film finally debuts. Red tights are hard for anyone to pull off properly, but I have to say, Armie Hammer could totally do it.
Aside from the physicality depicted in this artwork, Armie Hammer would also make a perfect fit for Shazam based purely off of some of his recent performances. He has proven himself to be incredibly capable as an actor when he's handed roles that allow him to indulge in his more playful and fun-loving side (Ben Wheatley's Free Fire put this quality on full display) and no DC hero embodies that idea more than Shazam. As a literal child trapped in an adult's body, the role of Billy Batson requires someone with strong comedic timing and a whimsical personality--someone who could match Dwayne Johnson's own charisma. That is, of course, a tall order for anyone, but I would absolutely love to see Armie Hammer rise to the occasion.
Again, I cannot stress enough that Armie Hammer has not officially been cast as Shazam yet. This is simply a piece of fan art. Having said that, this post makes a particularly compelling case that Hammer could make a perfect Shazam to face off against Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam. If anyone at DC Entertainment is reading this, please take note. Dwayne Johnson has already made it clear that this is a casting decision that he would like to see in the DC Extended Universe, so there's no reason not to give Hammer a shot at the role. We know that he was rumored for Green Lantern at one point, but I totally believe Shazam is a wholly superior casting choice and career path for him.
Shazam will hit theaters on April 5, 2019. That said, there are still plenty of comic book films left in 2017, so make sure to check out our movie premiere guide for more information related to the rest of this year's most highly anticipated releases.
