Everybody loves a Stormtrooper...well maybe not if you actually live in the Star Wars Universe. If that's the case then you probably hate them. The iconic foot soldiers of the Galactic Empire are a pop culture mainstay and have appeared in various forms ever since their debut. Fans will once again get to see the classic Stormtroopers in the upcoming (and still untitled) Han Solo spin-off, which will tell the origin story of the famous smuggler. The movie will also see the return of a familiar and popular stormtrooper variant: the scout trooper. Peep this behind-the-scenes shot of a scout trooper riding his hog.
Wow, that's certainly not as exciting at 7 mph, is it?
Courtesy of davidpennyesq on Instagram, we have a look at what appears to be a scout trooper in the Young Han Solo spin-off. The video was taken from the set and captures a moment of filming wherein a scout trooper is riding on a speeder. Fans will be most familiar with scout troopers riding around on speeder bikes, but the one in the video is clearly a different model; it's more in line with Rey's speeder from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Could they be chasing after a runaway Solo? The sleek design of the scout trooper armor looks a little different from when they made their debut in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, (Young Han Solo takes place several years before Return of the Jedi), but it's difficult to tell how much in the video.
The scout troopers first appeared in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi as a sleeker and more tactical stormtrooper. Stationed on the forest moon of Endor, they were charged with protecting the field generator that shielded the construction of the second Death Star. Their most memorable sequence came during a chase scene where they pursued Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia through a forest on floating motorcycles.
Not too much is known about the Han Solo spin-off other than it will tell an early story from Han Solo's life before his original appearance in Star Wars: A New Hope. The film is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, based on a script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan. Alden Ehrenreich stars as the infamous rogue while the rest of the cast is filled out by Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke and Michael K Williams. Oh, and Chewbacca! Chewbacca will be there as well.
The untitled Han Solo film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
