The Han Solo Movie Is So Cool Even Its Logo Is Badass
We've seen almost nothing about the new Han Solo movie that we're all waiting for, but everything we have seen gives us hope that the film will be good as we dream. This includes the coolest logo we've seen in a while. A stalwart tweeter of all things Star Wars got a look at the shirts that members of the crew are using on the set of the still untitled film and this logo is so great it makes me wish I was working on the film just so I could get a t-shirt. Check it out.
To be clear, this is a logo that is being used on shirts worn by the crew of the film and it's highly unlikely that the image here will be used for the film itself. More than likely, this logo just looks better than a t-shirt that reads, Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film. Having said that, this would totally work as the film's logo, a simple Solo with a blaster in place of the L is a great image. While this is unlikely to be the movie's final title, since we're assuming that Han Solo's name will be in the title of the movie someplace, seeing the blaster used like that in the official title is certainly a possibility.
While Star Wars likes to tease us with titles, at least in the case of The Last Jedi we were able to refer to that as something simple like Star Wars: Episode VIII until we learned the final name. In this case, we have no real idea what form the final name of the Han Solo film will take. Since this is considered an "anthology" film, like Rogue One before it, it's possible we could get A Star Wars Story as part of the title, but since we only have the single previous example, it's not really enough to confirm a pattern. Although, Solo: A Star Wars Story is far from the worst title idea.
Regardless, this logo is fantastic and if they want to put it out on shirts for public consumption I'll certainly be all over it. If that wasn't enough, the t-shirt also answers the immortal Star Wars question of "who shot first?" on the back. The answer isn't Han or Greedo. It's actually the crew.
The still untitled film stars Alden Ehrenreich as a young Han Solo in events that preceded the original Star Wars__: A New Hope. Donald Glover will play Lando Calrissian and Woody Harrelson will play the role of Solo's mentor, a character known only as Beckett. Emilia Clarke and Thandie Newton also star.
At some point here, likely later this year, we expect to get an official title, and hopefully the first trailer. Since the Han Solo movie won't be waiting until the holiday season, there's a good chance we'll get our first teases close to the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film is slated for release on May 25, 2018.
