One Movie Theater Chain Is Offering One Dollar Films This Summer
One common complaint we hear about the movie theater is that going to see films can be expensive, especially if you are bringing a family of four (or more) and wanting the full theater experience, complete with popcorn and soda pop. Regal Cinemas knows this, and the theater chain has plans this summer to help get families into theaters with $1 movies. Yes, you read that right. The movies will be $1 a ticket.
If you were hoping to just walk in and watch any movie for a dollar this summer, you are probably going to be a bit disappointed, because the deal will only be for certain movies and showtimes. Moreover, because movie theaters don't really get to keep much of the money for first run flicks, the showings are for second run family-friendly flicks, including but not limited to The Lego Batman Movie, King Fu Panda 3, Sing, Trolls and plenty more. You can take a look at the full list, below.
The movies are going to be available during the summer on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, starting at 10 a.m. at their respective locations. Two different movies will be shown each week, so the kiddos will be able to choose which show they'd prefer to see. I'm assuming Regal hopes to make some money off of concessions for these showings, as those might seem more affordable without the normal ticket cost attached. But either way, it's a nice idea to get families into the theater when the days are hot. One other nice thing that Regal is doing is varying the days when the showings start, depending on school districts. So, if your kids don't get out until the end of June, they won't be left out of the fun for a few weeks.
Regal Cinemas has done other cool events, honoring Gene Wilder when he passed away and more, so the $1 movies idea isn't so outside-the-box for the theater chain. Still, it should be a nice--and cheap--way to cool down this summer. Regal currently operates 546 cinemas in the United States, so there's a decent chance there's a theaters somewhere nearby where you live. And if you don't, local libraries and more often show movies during the summer, so keep an eye out. If you do want to check into the Regal Cinemas deal, you can find a theater near you over at Regal's site.
