The Marvel Hero Spider-Man Should Team Up With Next, According To Tom Holland

Ant-Man

We know that when the new Spider-Man makes his debut this Friday he'll do it alongside another big member of the MCU, Iron Man. Now, Tom Holland has an idea on who he'd like to see co-star in the next Spider-Man movie. Holland thinks it would be great to see Paul Rudd's Ant-Man show up alongside Spider-Man, and based on the actor's ideas, we'd have to agree. Holland seems to have an entire concept set up that would have Spider-Man using Ant-Man's tech to some pretty entertaining effect. According to Holland...

For me? It would be Ant-Man. I think we could have a really fun time with Spider-Man and Ant-Man. A mini-Spider-Man could be really interesting and so cool. Swinging from that Coke bottle to that glass [he gestures to a coffee table in front of him], but making it look like Manhattan would be insane. It would be a really amazing way to start off the movie. You see Spider-Man swinging around in like Rome or something and he suddenly grows and it turns out he was on a model.

We have to say, based on this set-up, we're ready to see Ant-Man show up in the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming as well. The visual of seeing the shrinking technology of Ant-Man being used on somebody with the mobility of Spider-Man would certainly set up some exciting visuals that we'd love to see. Based on Tom Holland's comments to the Toronto Sun, it seems like he's got the whole thing figured out.

Personally, I thought that seeing Scott Lang appear alongside Spider-Man was a great idea some time ago. At the time, however, my thought wasn't even in regard to the way the movie would look, but instead the way it would sound. Combining the famously fast-talking Spider-Man, with Paul Rudd's Ant-Man, who is legitimately funny, just seemed like the perfect pairing. Those two would work so well off each other from a comedic standpoint. Ant-Man probably qualifies as the funniest MCU movie so far but Spider-Man: Homecoming is in second place. Plus, there's the fact that both characters take their inspiration from insect-sized creatures. It's like they belong on a team together.

The word is that when the next Spider-Man movie hits in 2019 following Aveners 4, it will include another major MCU appearance, by somebody other than Iron Man, so a Spider-Man/Ant-Man team up is certainly within the realm of possibility. Of course, based on the events that take place in Avengers 4 the number of available members of the MCU might be much smaller, as there's a very good chance that several characters won't survive. Ant-Man may not make it to the July 2019 release date.
