Wreck-It Ralph 2 Is Bringing The Original Disney Princesses Back
While Wreck-It Ralph kept the action limited to the video games located in the arcade, Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 will take Ralph and his friends on a journey through the World Wide Web. It was to be expected that Ralph and the gang would visit different websites, but today it was revealed that the movie will feature a special kind of Disney synergy, as the sequel will include appearances from the original Disney princesses.
During the Wreck-It Ralph 2 presentation at D23 today, it was announced that during the movie, Ralph (John C. Reilly) and Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman) will visit OhMyDisney.com, which, of course, is full of the House of Mouse's different brands, as well as Marvel and Star Wars. At one point, Vanellope will hang out with the iconic Disney princesses, but it isn't just the characters who are being seen. Many of the actresses will reprise their roles, too. This includes Ming-Na Wen as Mulan, Idina Menzel as Elsa, Kristen Bell as Anna, Jodi Benson as Ariel, Paige O'Hara as Belle, Linda Larkin as Jasmine, Irene Bedard as Pocahontas, Anika Noni Rose as Tiana, Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, Kelly Macdonald as Merida and recent addition Auli'i Cravalho as Moana. Snow White and Aurora from Sleeping Beauty will also appear, though they will obviously be voiced by new actresses.
Given that Vanellope was revealed to be the princess of the video game Sugar Rush in Wreck-It Ralph, it's fitting that she'll be spending time with the other Disney princesses. But more importantly, this kind of reunion is incredible, even by Disney standards. It would have been easy enough for directors Rich Moore and Phil Johnson to hire different voice actors for these princesses in Wreck-It Ralph 2 or just not have them speak at all, but the fact that they brought in all these actresses for cameos (some of whom haven't voiced their character for a long time) is commendable. Exactly how much of the princesses we'll see in Wreck-It Ralph 2 remains to be seen, but given how many voices are involved, one would imagine that their scene with Vanellope is a big one.
Taking place six years after Wreck-It Ralph, Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 will see Ralph and his friends venturing outside their video game network and into the internet when a Wi-Fi router is set up in the arcade. Along with John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman returning, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch will reprise Fix-It Felix, Jr. and Sergeant Calhoun, respectively. Some of the new voices who have been announced for the sequel include Alan Tudyk, James Corden and Ana Ortiz.
Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 hits theaters on November 21, 2018.
