Check Out The Full, High-Definition Image Of Spider-Man's New Suit
Despite hitting theaters nearly a month ago, fans have still not stopped discussing and dissecting every frame from Jon Watt's Spider-Man: Homecoming. The critically acclaimed blockbuster officially welcomed Tom Holland's Peter Parker into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and fleshed out the high school student turned superhero and his life in Queens. The end of the film saw Spidey with the chance to officially join The Avengers, an offer he politely refused from Tony Stark and Pepper Potts. And this offer came with the Iron Spider Suit, which looked utterly badass. That shot had previously only been available in theaters, although now we can see a more detailed look at the suit that Peter will likely utilize in the upcoming battle against Thanos.
I mean, how cool is that? This suit (which Marvel released for a piece on VFX at Art of VFX) looks completely badass, and I'm eager to see what sort of goodies and gadgets Tony Stark has built into the Iron Spider for its eventual debut.
One of the ways that Spider-Man: Homecoming set itself apart from the past two Spidey-centric franchises was his iconic costume. Rather than being the simple and easily destroyed ones we've previously seen, Tom Holland's Peter Parker had a suit chock full of toys. Crafted by Tony Stark itself, Spider-Man's suit had a drone attached to the insignia, spider-wings for gliding, a GPS system, and web shooters that had a variety of settings. So if all of that was in the more traditional costume, there's no telling what type of high tech features the Iron Spider will have. Here's hoping for some mechanical legs, because we Spider-Man fans deserve it.
It should be interesting to see when exactly Peter Parker will hop into the Iron Spider suit. Smart money says it will be during the impending battle against Thanos and his forces in Avengers: Infinity War. But Tom Holland is also set to appear in the fourth Avengers film, so Marvel Studios may want to milk the suit for all its worth, building anticipation for Spidey's next appearance after Infinity War.
With Homecoming now in theaters, we're just a few MCU installments away from Avengers: Infinity War finally arriving in theaters. Comic-Con premiered some exclusive footage from the film that sounds absolutely wild, so hopefully said footage will be released to the masses soon, rather than later. The stakes for the Marvel Cinematic Universe has never been higher, as Thanos has the potential to destroy Earth and beyond. It will take the full power of the universe's heroes to keep Thanos at bay, including The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Captain America's team of fugitives. And if Tony Stark is going to put a teenager in harm's way again, let's hope he gives him an extra powerful suit to provide some needed protection.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is still currently in theaters, and Peter Parker's next appearance in the MCU will be Avengers: Infinity War on May 4, 2018. In the meantime, check out our 2017 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
