A Mighty Ducks Star Was Just Busted For Meth Possession
The story of a child actor aging into a rough adulthood has become a fairly tried and true story in Hollywood for anyone with even a passing knowledge of pop culture. When presented with fame at an early age, many young performers often have a significant amount of trouble making the transition. One of the most famous stories in that category is the tale of The Mighty Ducks' Shaun Weiss, and there's news that the actor was once again arrested, this time for possession of methamphetamine.
The report of this arrest comes to us courtesy of The Wrap. It states that Shaun Weiss was placed under arrest in Los Angeles on August 2 for possession of methamphetamine. The actor was held in the Burbank City jail and subsequently charged with misdemeanor possession. Oddly enough, this is Weiss' second time in jail this year, as he was only recently released early from a 150-day prison stint (of which he only served twelve days) after being charged with petty theft. Weiss' bail was ultimately set at $62,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court today. Sadly, it looks like he learned nothing from those years playing alongside Charlie Conway and Fulton Reed.
For those of you who have seen The Mighty Ducks movies, you'll remember Shaun Weiss played Greg Goldberg. The heavyset and endlessly goofy goalie for the titular team of hockey players, Golberg appeared in the first Mighty Ducks movie, as well as the two subsequent sequels. In addition to his role in the sports-comedy franchise (which remains arguably his most well-known role to this day), Weiss has also become famous for appearances in Freaks and Geeks, Boy Meets World and Pee-wee's Playhouse.
Shaun Weiss has become fairly notorious for his offscreen exploits in the years since The Mighty Ducks franchise came to an end, but he is far from the only member of the cast to achieve fame over the year. In addition to Weiss, the film also starred Emilio Estevez, Daredevil's Elden Henson (also known as Foggy Nelson) and Wet Hot American Summer's Marguerite Moreau. Although almost every member of the film's central cast ultimately went on to experience a broad range of success and/or notoriety over the years, Mr. Weiss' post-Mighty Ducks career can arguably be considered one of the most turbulent of the bunch.
