The Marvel Character Brie Larson Wants Captain Marvel To Battle
With each new installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we get closer to the battle against Thanos and the end of Phase Three. Phase Three is introducing a ton of new characters an expanding the shared universe, and perhaps no upcoming character is quite as hotly anticipated as Brie Larson's Captain Marvel. Her solo film will be the first female-fronted movie in the MCU, and fans are eager to see the Academy Award winning actress kick ass and take names. Although now it appears that Larson wants to come to blows with a certain Avenger: The Hulk.
Brie Larson has been doing the press rounds for new movie The Glass Castle. But since she's a superhero now, the conversation eventually turned to her role as Captain Marvel in the MCU. Speaking to USA Today, she revealed that she thinks it would be great to see The Hulk and Captain Marvel duke it out, saying:
I think I speak for every fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when I say YES PLEASE. The Hulk and Captain Marvel are probably the two most powerful heroes in the MCU, so watching them come to blows would be pretty awesome- especially when taking their size difference into account.
While Captain Marvel doesn't necessarily look like the strongest character in the universe, she comes with a gaggle of superpowers that will be sorely needed when Thanos comes knocking in Avengers: Infinity War. She's got super strength, flight, speed, is almost invulnerable, and can fire energy blasts from her hands. So watching her comes to fisticuffs with The Hulk would be epic, seeing as both of them can take a major beating and still go for more rounds. And watching Carol Danvers bring the pain on the Green Guy would be too good to miss.
Of course, a Hulk/Captain Marvel battle seems unlikely, especially considering where the former is headed in the MCU. Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/The Hulk is one of the leading characters of Thor: Ragnarok, which will arrive in just a few months. The film includes he and Thor battling on Sakaar's colosseum, so that'll probably be the last time that he fights another Avenger for a while. Although the battle isn't exactly even, as Thor doesn't seem to have access to his powers of lightning since Hela destroyed Mjolnir.
Then again, Bruce Banner tends to lose control over The Hulk, so anything is possible. We've already seen him lose control in Avengers: Age of Ultron, with Iron Man having to don his Hulkbuster armor to put him down. Plus the big guy had a moment of attacking Black Widow in a previous film, so I suppose nothing is off the table.
You can catch The Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok on November 3, 2017, and Brie Larson in The Glass Castle on August 11, 2017. In the meantime, check out our 2017 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
