Upcoming Conjuring Cinematic Universe Movies
There really is nothing like The Conjuring universe in Hollywood these days. After two stellar horror films and two innovative spinoffs (the latest of which recently hit theaters), James Wan's spooky franchise has handily turned into one of the best film series in recent memory. With scares, style, and a hell of a lot of filmmaking skill on full display in each subsequent entry, we couldn't be more excited for what this universe will bring us next.
On that note (and on the heels of Annabelle: Creation's critical and financial success), we think now is the perfect time to look forward into the future. We have compiled a list of every confirmed Conjuring movie currently in development, and we will keep this handy guide updated as new information becomes available to us. Now, let's dive in and see what's next in the world of ghosts, spirits, and demons.
The Curse Of La Llorona
Originally, it looked like The Curse of La Llorona was going to be a standalone film that was adjacent to The Conjuring universe. Director Michael Chaves’ feature film debut eventually became announced as a proper part of the universe, as the integration of Father Perez from Annabelle directly connects this story as taking place in that shared framework. Set in the 1970’s, The Curse of La Llorona tells the story of the fabled ghost who steals the souls of lost children, and the evil she brings to the home of a social worker, played by Linda Cardellini.

Annabelle Comes Home
Annabelle: Creation’s success obviously dictated a third entry based on the devil doll’s life and times as a given. However, it wasn’t predicted that the film that became Annabelle Comes Home would turn into a full blown adventure with the Warren family. Showing the moment that Ed and Lorraine acquired the doll that started it all, Annabelle Comes Home also threatens to unleash a ton of other spirits trapped in the Warren’s room of special relics. Returning as Ed and Lorraine Warren are Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, respectively; with series writer Gary Dauberman making his directorial debut with the film.

The Conjuring 3
If you were worried that The Conjuring 3 wasn’t going to be a concern with Annabelle Comes Home returning the Warren family to the fold, don’t be. The threequel in the core franchise is still a going concern, with The Curse of La Llorona’s Michael Chaves taking the director’s chair for the first film without James Wan behind the camera. The exact plot isn’t locked in yet, with rumors of werewolves and a legal thriller aspect both being present; but what we do know is Vera Farmiga is definitely in it, and she says it’s absolutely massive in its scope.

The Crooked Man
Following the release of The Nun, James Wan's Conjuring universe will once again go for another spinoff from a monster introduced during the events of The Conjuring 2. However, this time we will see a movie centering on The Crooked Man folktale. We do not know nearly as much about The Crooked Man as we do about The Nun, but Wan has come out and confessed that it would feel considerably different from other installments in The Conjuring universe by focusing far more on the titular entity's "whimsical" fairy tale origins. The most current update we have on The Crooked Man is that the script is still being finessed, with the promise to be a very different entry in the series still ringing true.

The Nun 2
It truly feels like there’s no end to the records that The Conjuring universe is set to break. Last September’s release of The Nun saw not only the biggest opening for Conjuring film, but also the highest worldwide grosses for any film in the entire series. As Valak already has a brand of recognition similar to that of Annabelle, The Nun 2 was a pretty easy concept to announce as an upcoming title to add to the fray. While it’s in the earliest stages of inception, franchise producer Peter Safran promises a rather exciting story is in the works, and it’ll probably be the next spin-off written in the series.
