Take A Closer Look At Finn's First Order Costume In The Last Jedi
While the trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has confirmed what Rey will be doing for a large part of the new movie, a lot is still unknown about John Boyega's Finn, but now we can take a closer look at one of his objectives in The Last Jedi. A new action figure is going to be released showing Finn in disguise as a First Order officer. Take a look at the new toy below.
As has been the case with recent Star Wars merchandise, the figure, revealed on Twitter, looks pretty impressive. Interestingly, in addition to carrying a blaster, the figure also includes a Z6 baton, the weapon capable of blocking lightsabers that we see a Stormtrooper (lovingly referred to by fans as TR-8R) use in a battle against Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It's an odd addition, as First Order officers probably don't spend a lot of time involved in hand to hand combat. It could mean something or it could just be there to give kids something else to play with.
One of the persistent rumors going around regarding Finn's role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, is that Finn would go back to his former home, the First Order, but in disguise and on a mission for the Resistance. While we don't know where he gets the officer's uniform, rumors have indicated that the mission involves getting on board a Super Star Destroyer in order to plant explosives. We're guessing Finn gets tapped for the mission because of his personal knowledge of First Order operations.
While this action figure is our best look at Finn in disguise, it's not actually our first look. We did see a brief glimpse of John Boyega in the outfit in the behind the scenes footage from Star Wars: The Last Jedi that was shown during Disney's D23 Expo last month.
From this image, we know that Finn won't be going into the lion's den alone. Rose, played by Kelly Marie Tran, will be going in with him. While Finn is a former Stormtrooper who is used to putting himself in dangerous situations, Rose is a Resistance mechanic. How she gets involved in an undercover operation is anybody's guess. We certainly hope she gets her own First Order disguise action figure as well.
While we certainly don't know if the details of the mission are the same as the rumors, the fact that the mission itself does seem to be accurate would certainly imply that we know more about what Finn will be doing in the new film than we previously thought. We'll find out for certain when Star Wars: The Last Jedi arrives in December.
