New Thor: Ragnarok Video Shows More Of Hulk And Thor’s Fight
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been on a roll lately, as each of the installments in Phase Three have been met with critical success and great box office performance. Fresh off of the major wins from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming, the next installment in the MCU will be Thor's threequel. Thor: Ragnarok looks like a game changer for the franchise, as he's teamed up with The Hulk in an intergalactic buddy adventure. The Marvel fandom is counting down the days until the two Avenger juggernauts come to blows in the Sakaar arena, and a new trailer has given us some more footage of that event. Check it out.
Pretty awesome, right? This new video is literally all action, so it looks like there will be no shortage of awesome battles once Ragnarok finally arrives in theaters.
First and foremost, the above trailer is all about Thor and Hulk's battle. When Thor is captured by Valkyrie and taken to Sakaar for the Grandmaster, he's forced into an epic fighting arena for survival. Without his hammer and sweet hair, he'll have to rely on his super strength and skill to make it through this third solo adventure. And that'll be tested immediately when he's forced to battle The Hulk.
The ensuing fight sequence looks like it's going to be thrilling on the big screen. Hulk's CGI rendering is pretty stunning, and it's great to see the behemoths kicking the crap out of each other with impressive speed and strength. While the two originally come to blows armed with swords and warhammers, it looks like both heroes will eventually be disarmed. From there it's a superpowered boxing match that would make even Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor impressed (how topical, I know).
While this new trailer is pretty damn awesome, there's bound to be critics that are displeased with so much footage being revealed before the film is in theaters. Trailers have been known to spoil plot points and scenes before, and many believe that the least shown before a film arrives in theaters, the better. In fact, Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson and Mark Hamill have both encouraged fans to steer clear of the film's marketing campaign, and show up with a fresh perspective to the theater.
But this new trailer is relatively short, and the quick shots of the Hulk/Thor battle are mixed in with moments from other action sequences. Many of these included Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie, so it looks like there's going to be a new badass lady in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She's set to reprise her role in the highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War, which is great considering the power that Thanos has at his disposal; Earth is going to need any help it can get.
Thor: Ragnarok will arrive in theaters on November 3, 2017. In the meantime, check our 2017 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
