The Fifty Shades franchise is still going strong heading into its third movie, and while it doesn't seem so long ago that Fifty Shades Darker hit theaters, Fifty Shades Freed has already filmed and will be heading into theaters for Valentine's Day, 2018. But it's never too early to start advertising for a big movie, and Universal is doing just that. You can take a look at Fifty Shades Freed courtesy of the trailer, below.
Since Fifty Shades Freed is based on the book of the same name written by E.L. James, there are plenty of fans out there who are expecting the third film in the franchise to hit most of the key moments from the series. One of these big moments is that Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey get married, with some early drama focusing on Anastasia keeping the name Steele for work purposes. A wedding is definitely in the cards for this movie, as this first trailer spends plenty of time letting us get a close up at Ana's whole wedding look.
As much as I love looking over bridal gear, and maybe even getting a little judge-y every now and again, the real hook here is obviously actor Jamie Dornan and his really well-chiseled abs. Fifty Shades Freed is going to pretty much be a lot of sex with a little plot thrown in and this trailer certainly gives us a little bit of a taste for what to expect from the third movie.
And lest you think there will only be sex and titillating conversation, further events from the book are teased, including a scene where Anastasia Steele has a knife to her throat.
Fifty Shades Freed will be a bit of an end to an era. The Fifty Shades movies have show a remarkable box office robustness and vitality, despite facing some criticism in regards to how much nudity has versus hasn't been shown. The last movie made over $950 million globally at the box office and the third movie could have a similar take.
We won't have too much longer to wait to find out. The R-rated Fifty Shades Freed is expected to hit theaters on February 9, 2018. If you are someone who keeps up with franchise movies, there are others hitting theaters in the coming months, including Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Justice League and Thor: Ragnarok, although you should expect far less sex in any of those PG-13 outings.
