Jennifer Lawrence Thinks Darren Aronofsky Has Severe Psychological Problems
It has been three years since Darren Aronofsky directed his last movie Noah, but this month his latest project mother! will hit theaters, and from what we've seen of the movie, it's going to be a wild ride. It's not just the audience who thinks so, either. When Jennifer Lawrence originally read the script for mother!, she had a pretty visceral reaction. In fact, she even told Darren Aronofsky that he has "severe" issues he needs to work through. According to Lawrence,
Speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival, Jennifer Lawrence also revealed that she said yes to mother! before she saw the batshit script. She told EW at the event that she heard ideas that were "unique" and "challenging" and she immediately wanted to sign on for the project. Now that the filming process is over and the movie is heading into theaters, she seems just as jazzed.
So far, we don't even know much about what mother! is actually about. Of course, there has been a full trailer featuring Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem welcoming strangers into their homes. There's also a clip that has been running around featuring Michelle Pfeiffer's character pushing Lawrence's character about having kids. Plenty of theories have been tossed out related to the movie, and we won't have too much longer to wait to see what the hullabaloo is about.
Of course, there have been myriad reactions to mother! since it first screened a few days ago. Some reviews have called it "a glorious mess" and "far from a masterpiece." Other reviews have called it an "ambitious film" and one that will "blow your eyeballs and brain into the back of your skull." Some people seem to like the movie and others don't seem to be nearly as happy with the film as others. But love it or hate it, most people seem to have had a very strong reaction to Darren Aronofsky's mother! and we wouldn't be surprised if we heard more visceral reactions when the movie begins screening for a wider audience.
The director's latest effort mother! will finally be hitting theaters on September 15. It's part of a slew of bigger profile movies premiering this month, starting with the monster hit IT, which had an incredible box office intake this weekend.
