See Paul Bettany Hilariously Filling Out Paperwork While Dressed As Vision
With three comic book shared universes producing regular installments, superhero movies are everywhere. And while audiences clammer to the theater to watch their favorite superpowered characters duke it out, the magic isn't quite as palpable during filming. Green screens are used, costumes are unfinished, and there's a fair amount of imagination needed to pull off performances for the genre. Set photos can help point out the sometimes silly aspect of filming, and one just surfaced from the set of the next two Avengers films which shows Paul Bettany casually doing some paperwork... clad completely in his Vision costume. Check it out.
I mean, come on. If this image doesn't at least make you chuckle on the inside, then you have to reevaluate your choices. Because Paul Bettany looks utterly ridiculous in full costume and motion capture gear, filling out paperwork. This is the real movie magic, people.
Perhaps the best part about the above photo is how Paul Bettany is wearing his personal glasses in full costume. It's also made extra ridiculous because Vision doesn't actually have ears. While Bettany's are sticking out of his prothesis, Vision's ear don't really exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As such, the actor has to strategically place his glasses high up on the sides of his head, so he could properly fill out the paperwork. All I can say is thank you, Mark Ruffalo for catching this fantastic shot.
Funny enough, this isn't the fist time we've seen Vision looking uncharacteristically dapper, despite his red appearance and built-in suit. In his most recent appearance in Captain America: Civil War, Vision was given some civvies in the form of a sweater and dress shirt combo. While somewhat awkward and funny, Vision's casual clothes were actually very carefully planned out, with a variety of potential outfits drawn in the concept art phase of production.
It should be interesting to see what direction Vision is taken in the next two Avengers films. Paul Bettany has already revealed that the romantic plot line between he and Scarlet Witch will have its most exciting chapter in Infinity War, building off of the connection that was introduced in Civil War.
Vision's fate is also tied to the big bad Thanos himself. Thanos is approaching Earth to assemble the Infinity Stones and bring destruction upon the Galaxy. One of those stones is currently right in the forehead of Vision, putting him in danger in the next two films. If Thanos and his forces manage to remove the stone from Vision's head, it's unclear how his powers would be affected or if he'd survive at all. One rumor is that Vision might be turned into a human, although that seems like a strange choice as well.
Avengers: Infinity War will arrive in theaters on May 4, 2018. In the meantime, check out our 2017 release list to plan your next binge watch.
