Wait, What Marvel Movie Is Brie Larson Filming In Atlanta?

Brie Larson in Knocked Up

Marvel has basically set up shop in Atlanta, GA for the time being. The studio has shot a major chunk of its upcoming superhero adventures in the Southern metropolis, from Avengers: Infinity War to the ongoing Ant-Man and the Wasp. It's not unusual for a bevy of stars from the Marvel Studios galaxy to be spotted by paparazzi in Atlanta, but it IS unusual for Brie Larson to be filming in The ATL... mainly because we're not 100% sure what she is filming yet. Look at this Tweet:

So, the active Twitter handle of AtlantaFilming noted that Brie Larson was in town, adding that Chris Evans was there, too (which puts this, likely, in the Marvel Studios camp). They don't say "filming," though --- because everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe carries some level of "spoiler" warning --- the Twitter handle quickly followed up with:

Going to be in what "thing," though? Best we can tell, Brie Larson's debut film -- Captain Marvel -- hasn't started filming yet (even though it's due in theaters March 2019). Instead, Marvel has been toiling away on Peyton Reed's Ant-Man and the Wasp, and the Russo Brothers, Joe and Anthony, have been working on back to back Avengers movies. If we had to choose between the two, we'd guess that Brie Larson might appear in one of the Avengers movies, though with Avengers: Infinity War basically wrapped, this might mean Captain Marvel is on the docket for the ultra-mysterious Avengers 4.

Captain Marvel

Marvel's upcoming slate is going to get very interesting, for so many different reasons. The Russos have been talking about the MCU, as we know it, changing drastically after these next two Avengers movies, which could mean that Thanos (Josh Brolin) causes so many problems, the Avengers have to do something drastic in order to stop him. We also know that the MCU wants to start heading in a cosmic direction (which plays into Carol Danvers' strengths), though heroes like Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) will keep the MCU grounded heading into Phase 4.

If the Tweets are to be believed, then Brie Larson's introduction into the MCU has begun filming, and it's sounding like Carol could pop up in an Avengers movie -- though if she's tapped for Avengers 4, that arrives AFTER her solo movie, so this could make sense, in a timeline concept. We'll keep unraveling the Marvel mysteries. You guys keep sharing what you see (particularly all of our loyal Atlanta readers!)
