Josh Brolin's New Cable Photo Is Super Intense, Check It Out
Needless to say the primary reason people will go see Deadpool 2 next year is to watch Ryan Reynolds continue breaking the fourth wall as Wade Wilson, but the sequel also has the added bonus of introducing Cable and Domino to the X-Men universe. There's an especially high amount of anticipation for the live action Cable given the character's popularity and his dynamic with Deadpool in the comics. The first pictures of Josh Brolin's Cable dropped last month, and now we have a new look at the actor in character for a super intense moment.
It's anyone's guess what's happening in this photo that Josh Brolin posted on his Instagram page. Maybe Brolin is just doing his yelling exercises so he's ready to channel Cable's rage when the cameras are rolling. Maybe this is the moment when Cable sees how he looks after being infected with the techno-organic virus and appropriately freaks out. Maybe Cable's just noticing that the barber cut his hair wrong. Whatever the reason, this picture serves as a good reminder of how different Cable is compared to Deadpool 2's eponymous protagonist. Unlike Wade Wilson, who spends most of his time cracking jokes and one-liners, Cable is a fairly serious character, so don't expect him to help lighten the mood. Well, not purposefully, anyway. Knowing Deadpool, he'll come up with a few ways to make the Cable the butt of a joke.
Josh Brolin will be pulling double comic book movie duty next year. In early May, he'll appear in Avengers: Infinity War as Thanos, the MCU's overarching grand baddie who he previously cameoed as in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron. But just one month later, moviegoers will see Brolin lends his talents to the Fox Marvel universe as Cable in Deadpool 2. Like his comic book counterpart, the live action Cable will hail from the future, although according to director David Leitch, Deadpool 2 won't address the more convoluted elements of Cable's origin. Still, part of me hopes that Deadpool makes a smart-ass comment about Cable's connection to Cyclops in the same vein as that McAvoy/Stewart Professor X crack he made in the first Deadpool movie.
Deadpool 2 is just the start of Josh Brolin's journey as Cable. As part of the actor's four-picture deal, he's expected to also appear in X-Force, which will once again pair him with Deadpool, Presumably fellow Deadpool 2 newcomer, Domino (played by Zazie Beetz), will also appear with these two in the militaristic mutant team's movie, though that hasn't been confirmed yet. As for how Cable and Domino will factor into Deadpool 2, that remains to be revealed, but with filming wrapping up next month, hopefully we'll receive some plot information before the year is finished.
Deadpool 2 opens in theaters on June 1, 2018. Don't forget to also look through our 2017 movie guide to plan out your trips to the theater over the next few months accordingly.
