Yes, Sebastian Stan Knows He Looks Like Luke Skywalker, And He'd Love To Join Star Wars
Everybody loves a good doppelganger. The idea that someone is out there in the world with your same face is terrifying for some, but exciting for others. And it's even more fun when two celebs happen to look exactly like. Case in point: Captain America actor Sebastian Stan and Star Wars poster boy Mark Hamill. While the two actors are separated by decades of time, it turns out that Stan has a facial structure almost identical to Hamill back in his Star Wars hayday. And now it turns out that Stan himself sees the resemblance, and would be all too happy to play Luke in a future Star Wars film.
Sebastian Stan recently appeared at Rhode Island Comic Con (via CBM), where he spoke to his uncanny resemblance to young Mark Hamill. He said,
It looks like The Winter Soldier is ready to try his hand at The Force. And considering how much of the Star Wars community are also comic book fans, this has the potential to cause endless nerdgasms around the world. That is, if Star Wars actually gives the actor a call.
Mark Hamill and Sebastian Stan's resemblance broke the internet months ago, when one eagle eyed fan realized they're basically identical. One fan photoshopped Stan's face on to an old photo of Hamill as Luke Skywalker, and you couldn't even tell the difference. Check it out below, courtesy of Star Wars Underworld.
Uncanny, no? If the Star Wars franchise ever attempted to bring back the young Luke Skywalker for another film, they won't have to go the expensive CGI route a la Leia in Rogue One. Instead, they just need to hire Sebastian Stan to play the hero.
Of course, re-casting Luke Skywalker would also illicit a fair amount of backlash from Star Wars purists. With Hamill returning to the role in Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi, it seems like Luke will once again lead the space opera. Then again, we're getting a new young Han Solo with Solo: A Star Wars Story, so maybe the fans will change their tune if Ron Howard's film is a success.
Mark Hamill himself even seems to find the resemblance uncanny. He recently took to Twitter to troll the fans and Sebastian Stan about it. Check it out.
