Watch Mark Hamill Surprise Fans On Star Tours At Disneyland
Going to Disneyland and visiting its many attractions can be a fun experience on its own, but few people can say that during their visit to the theme park, they've treated to a surprise celebrity appearance. One lucky group of Star Wars fans who were checking out Star Tours recently experienced just that, as Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, dropped in for a quick visit. Thankfully, this surprise was captured on video, which you can check out below.
At first glance, it's business as usual on this Star Tours visit, but when the guide notes that a special passenger is coming aboard who is strong in the Force, you can feel that something special is about to happen. Sure enough, Mark Hamill casually walks in and is greeted with cries of shock and excitement. Rest assured, Mr. Hamill, that everyone in that room was a Star Wars fan and delighted to see you pop in. Judging by the guy in the doorway who was shooting Hamill's appearance, it's possible we may see clearer footage of this visit elsewhere soon, like on the Star Wars social media channels.
As for why Mark Hamill appeared at Disneyland's Star Tours, no doubt it was to promote the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Johnny Depp did something similar earlier this year when he dressed up as Jack Sparrow and posed as part of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride a few weeks before Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales hit theaters. Maybe Hamill could stop by the Star Tours in Disney World to treat Star Wars fans in Florida to a pleasant surprise.
After more than three decades of being away from the Star Wars franchise, Mark Hamill returned to the galaxy far, far away with Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and other Original Trilogy stars for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. However, unlike the other actors, Hamill didn't receive much screen time, only appearing directly in the movie's final minutes. The Last Jedi, on the other hand, will place Luke firmly in the spotlight as he trains Rey in the ways of the Force on Ahch-To and determines what the future of the Jedi will be. It remains to be seen if Hamill will be back for another round of Force-filled action in 2019's Episode IX, but judging by The Last Jedi promotional material that's been released so far, the bearded Jedi Master is going to be put through the ringer.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters on December 15. As for what's coming up over the next year, look through our 2017 premiere guide and 2018 premiere guide for release date information.
