Hotel Transylvania 3 Trailer Features The Whole Gang Going On A Cruise
The Hotel Transylvania series has been a huge winner for Sony Pictures Entertainment. The animated films, following Adam Sandler's Dracula, his daughter Mavis, and a monstrous hotel, are very popular among kids and families (except maybe his own) and have only grown in popularity since the first film. Now, Sony has released the first international trailer for Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation and it finds Dracula finally getting a break from running his hotel and taking a vacation of his own. Check it out below.
It look like the whole crew will be tagging along when the cantankerous and overworked Dracula finally gets a vacation thanks to his daughter, Mavis. After being forced to leave his hotel, a lot of headaches, including his dad, will be tagging along with him. The change of setting to an inherently ridiculous cruise ship, should provide a lot of opportunities for the kind of silly fun this series is known for, such as Speedo-clad Vlad.
This trailer is more of a teaser in a way because other than the broad strokes we don't get to see what the conflict will be on board this 'hotel, on the water'. But the description of the film gives us a better idea of what sort of hijinks will take place on the high seas. Although initially reluctant, the crotchety Dracula will find something to like about the cruise when he meets the ship's captain Ericka, and a romance begins. No doubt Drac's Pack will be more hindrance than help in the love department. Mavis looks as if she'll be skeptical of the relationship and now becomes the overprotective family member that Dracula was in the first movie. Neither Dracula, Mavis nor the rest of Drac's Pack knows the truth that Ericka is in fact a descendent of the legendary vampire and monster hunter, Abraham Van Helsing.
The first two Hotel Transylvania films excelled at the box office and broke records doing so. The first film, which debuted in 2012, took in $358 million worldwide and 2015's Hotel Transylvania 2 surpassed that with a $473 million total haul. Animated sequels that surpass their predecessors at the box office can be a rare feat. Growing in both worldwide and domestic grosses from film to film is a good sign for Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. The film should also benefit from fans of the prequel TV series that debuted earlier this year on Disney Channel.
Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation stars Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez and Andy Samberg. And, despite some initial doubts, Genndy Tartakovsky, was again in the director's chair for the third film in the series. It hits theaters on July 13, 2018.
