When The Gambit Movie Will Finally Begin Filming
After years of anticipation, Gambit is finally going to escape development hell. Channing Tatum is still attached to portray Remy LeBeau, A Cure For Wellness' Gore Verbinski is attached to helm the long-awaited project, and a release date has now been set for Valentines Day 2019. Now it is just a matter of figuring out when the cameras will finally start to roll, and it seems that production will begin this February.
A new report from Omega Underground seems to have finally figured out when the cameras will roll on Gambit. With the film aiming for a February 14, 2019 release, it now looks like it will begin shooting in February and have principal photography run through July of next year. Much of the filming is expected to take place in New Orleans, Louisiana, with other locales such as Paris also possibly appearing as well.
The announcement of the February-July production schedule comes on the heels of other recent reports related to the overall plot and ensemble of the Gambit solo movie. Specifically, it was recently announced that Mean Girls and Master of Sex alumni Lizzy Caplan had signed on for the film. The exact character she is playing remains unspecified, though some have guessed that she might be portraying Bella Donna. Aside from Caplan, The Disaster Artist's James Franco is also potentially gearing up to play Jamie Madrox a.k.a Multiple Man in the film as well.
Similarly, other rumors related to Gambit's narrative have suggested that it will follow Remy LeBeau as he finds himself hired by Mr. Sinister to steal a mysterious chest from the Thieves Guild in New Orleans in the midst of Mardis Gras. Much like Lizzy Caplan's character, this has not been confirmed yet either, but it seems to line up with recent rumors that everyone involved wants to break the mold and try something different from other X-Men universe films -- a la other recently successful standalone projects like Deadpool or Logan.
With Gambit aiming to start production in February of next year, the wait for that February 14, 2019 release date now seems more difficult than ever.
