9 Star Wars: The Last Jedi Rumors And The Chances They Could Come True
We're only a couple of weeks away from finally seeing Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Once that happens we'll be able to put rumors to rest and separate the fact from the fiction. We don't really know what's going to happen in the upcoming film, but we've had years of rumors purporting to tell us what we'll see when the movie finally makes it to screens.
Some of the rumors may be true, but others seem like pure fantasy. What are the odds that any given rumor will come true? We give a few of our favorites a look and try to set the odds on what we'll actually see.
We'll Learn Everything About Rey's Past
The biggest question coming off of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is, simply, just who the hell is Rey. This has led many of the rumors regarding the character that would seem to indicate the new film will reveal all. Will we get all of our answers in Star Wars: The Last Jedi? Probably not. It's possible that we'll get some answers, though as Daisy Ridley herself has implied, learning who Rey's parents are won't necessarily answer the larger questions about her. Some answers will likely be left for Episode IX.
Odds: 20 to 1
Yoda Will Appear
Part of the fun with Star Wars: The Force Awakens was getting to see our favorite Star Wars characters again. Of course, there are so many that we'd still like to see. And of course, since this is Star Wars, simply being dead doesn't eliminate the possibility of a cameo. This has led to the rumor that Yoda might appear in the new film. While Frank Oz is being cagey, it seems like bringing Yoda back at this point would be odd. Perhaps we'll get Yoda's voice in the same way we got Obi-Wan's in The Force Awakens, but the odds of an actual Force Ghost appearance are pretty slight.
Odds: 50 to 1
Hayden Christensen Will Appear
Even stranger than a potential Yoda appearance is a potential Anakin Skywalker appearance. This rumor is pretty old, so even if there was any truth to it, it may have been dropped by this point. Although, Hayden Christensen did show up at the recent Star Wars Celebration, seemingly to remind people he was in the movies in the first place. Still, while the young Anakin's Force Ghost was added into the most recent release of Return of the Jedi, bringing the character back like that probably wouldn't go over well, assuming that they brought the character back at all, which is also a long shot.

Rey vs A Sea Monster
Sometimes a rumor comes along that seems plausible simply because it doesn't make a lot of sense. One rumor about an upcoming scene in The Last Jedi includes Rey fighting some sort of sea monster while on the planet Ahch-To with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). We're mostly inclined to believe this one. For one thing, the rumor also included some of the first descriptions of the characters we now know to be porgs, giving it some credence. In addition, if you were going to invent a rumor, why would you pick a sea monster?
Odds: 5 to 1
Kylo Ren Will Wear Darth Vader's Cape
We know that Kylo Ren is in possession of the burned out helmet of Darth Vader. He's sort of a fanboy like that. However, another rumor claims that's not the only possession of the former Dark Lord that Ren owns. He apparently also has, and will wear in the movie, Darth Vader's cape. This one seems a little far-fetched. Considering the state of Vader's helmet, is there really a chance that his cape survived the funeral pyre? It's possible that Ren has made his own cape that's specifically designed to look like the one Vader wore, but the odds of it being the same cape seem really low.
*Odds: *100 to 1
A Flashback To The Origins Of The Jedi
Sometimes rumors seem so out of left field that it makes them seem plausible, but it is possible to go too far. Such is the case with a rumor that describes, in detail, a flashback sequence that will allegedly show Rey, thanks to Luke's Force powers, the birth of both the Jedi and the Sith. The story, which involves some sort of magic tree, will supposedly tie back to the whole chosen one idea that the prequel trilogy was based around. Of all the answers that The Last Jedi might give us, we really don't expect the entire history of The Force to be revealed. This all seems like a bit much.
Odds: 100 to 1
Rey Turns To The Dark Side
The most recent trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi strongly implies a potential turn to the Dark Side for Rey. While we even suggested such a thing could happen, long before any trailers came out, the pure fact that the trailer implies it makes this less likely. If it's true, it's a major spoiler, whereas, if it's a dodge, it's because there's something else they're trying to hide. A potential turn might be part of the plot of the film, but we don't actually think a full turn will actually take place.
Odds: 25 to 1
Luke Turns To The Dark Side
Rey isn't the only one who's been rumored to turn to the Dark Side. One rumor, seemingly based on Luke Skywalker's placement on a particular poster, and also Mark Hamill's trolling, would have it that Luke will make the turn to the Dark Side. This is incredibly unlikely. With Han Solo dead, and General Leia unfortunately not returning after The Last Jedi, seeing the last member of the main trilogy stars go bad would just be too heartbreaking. Luke fought against the Dark Side once, to see him give into it now would tarnish everything he did in the original films.
Odds: 150 to 1
Luke Vs Kylo Ren
We know that Luke and Rey will be working together in some form of Jedi training in the new film, but anything else they get up to is pure speculation. Still, one rumored scene claims that the duo will be brought back into the fight against the First Order when Kylo Ren discovers them on Ahch-To. This culminates in a massive battle between Luke and Kylo Ren. We would totally expect a battle like this to happen at some point in the next two films, and as Episode IX will more than likely be Rey's fight, then it would make sense for Luke to get his moment here. This battle will almost certainly happen in some way shape or form, and if it happens just as described here, we won't be mad.
Odds: 2 to 1
