Margot Robbie Says There's Another Harley Quinn Spinoff In The Works
Margot Robbie's performance as Harley Quinn has been one of the highlights of DC's film universe so far, so it's not surprising that there are plans to bring her back, but there are a lot of different projects on the books, and now there's apparently one more. While we have no idea which movie with Harley Quinn will be the next one we see, the character is attached to Suicide Squad 2, Gotham City Sirens, and a third project that will star Harley and the Joker. Now, Margot Robbie reveals there's yet another Harley project in development. According to the actress...
The key word here is "separate." MTV started off the question by talking about the existing projects that we've heard about, then clarified later that whatever mysterious project Margot Robbie is talking about is something other than the movies that have already been announced. What's more, if Robbie has been working on the project for two years then this has been an idea since about the point Suicide Squad started filming.
We'd heard rumors of a potential Suicide Squad spinoff starring Harley Quinn fairly early on in the days following the financial success of the villain team-up movie. When Gotham City Sirens was eventually announced, teaming Harley with Catwoman and Poison Ivy, it seemed that was the movie that was being teased, but now one must wonder if that was an entirely separate project. Either way, there has been one Harley Quinn movie hiding in plain sight for a while.
In addition to Gotham City Sirens and an expected sequel to Suicide Squad, Margot Robbie is also looking at a potential movie that would star the Joker and Harley. Little is known about that one beyond the idea that it's being billed as some sort of relationship drama.
Margot Robbie recently said that she hopes to be filming a movie as Harley Quinn next year, though she gave no indication as to which movie that would be in. Now, we have a fourth potential option. It seems unlikely this solo feature would be the furthest one along without hearing news about it, but who knows anymore?
What we do know is that everybody loves Harley Quinn. Fans loved her and now it appears that Warner Bros. loves her because they have more movies planned with her than any other DC character at this point. If all four films make it to the screen Margot Robbie will be playing Harley Quinn for a very long time.
