Daisy Ridley Comforting An Overwhelmed Kelly Marie Tran At The Last Jedi Premiere Is Everything
There were a lot of highlights at the premiere for Star Wars: The Last Jedi this past weekend, and if you've been tuned into CinemaBlend, you may have already heard about some of them. Recently, however, Star Wars: Battlefront II voice actress Janina Gavankar shared some footage she shot at the premiere, which features Star Wars newcomer Kelly Marie Tran having a total moment by the largesse of it all and getting comforted by none other than her co-star Daisy Ridley. Cue the awws, and check it out, below.
So Janina Gavankar--who is also famous for Sleepy Hollow and True Blood--seems to have been minding her own business and taking some footage on the red carpet when she caught the epic moment above. In the video, Kelly Marie Tran--looking fab in a red dress--comes down some stairs. She's totally super emotional and crying, and it is Daisy Ridley who embraces her in a warm hug and gives her some words of encouragement. Gavankar was standing far enough away that we can't hear the conversation between the two young women, but we do get to see the aftermath, where Tran perks up and the two pose for a picture together.
It's a lovely moment, and it totally fits in with the stage of fame Kelly Marie Tran is in right now. She shot her role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi months and months ago, but she's just now starting to see the fruits of those labors with interviews and red carpet events like the big premiere this weekend. In fact, it was just a few days ago that Tran revealed she spent some time with Carrie Fisher on the set of the upcoming Episode VIII, and that Fisher had helped her navigate her early days of fame, or being "on a public platform" as Kelly Marie Tran put it. The actress said she admired that Fisher managed to be famous but to also be "unapologetically herself" all of the time.
Carrie Fisher may no longer be around to help the actress who is set to play Rose Tico in the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi to navigate her way though fame, but it looks like she has a strong cast around her to help her get through the next few days. In fact, Kelly Marie Tran's character is seen with John Boyega's Finn throughout the movie, but Daisy Ridley's character is often off with Luke, so the two ladies aren't the natural pairing on the red carpet they may seem. In fact, there's something a little poetic about Daisy Ridley being there for Tran, since she went through nearly the same thing when Star Wars: The Force Awakens had its big premiere. In that case, Carrie Fisher was a help, as well.
You can catch Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi when it hits theaters on Friday, December 15. You can also check out what we know about the upcoming flick and be sure to pre-order your tickets if you haven't already. We have a feeling the theaters are going to be packed.
