Jeremy Renner Is Trolling Fans Who Think Hawkeye Is Getting A New Costume In Infinity War
Costume changes come with the territory in the superhero business, but they are especially prevalent in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Whether it's just minor color alterations or a major threads overhaul, the franchise frequently adjusts the looks of many of its protagonists as the movies roll out. For instance, since debuting in 2011's Thor, Hawkeye's costume has changed each time he's appeared, and with his fifth appearance lined up in next year's Avengers: Infinity War, one wouldn't be foolish in thinking that he might wait a new pair of duds in the highly-anticipated blockbuster. The archer's actor, Jeremy Renner, is certainly aware of this, as he used one of his recent social media posts to troll fans who think Hawkeye will get a new costume come next year.
Since Hawkeye didn't show up in the first Avengers: Infinity War trailer late last month, our only official look at him so is in the movie artwork that came our this past summer, and from the way he's positioned, it's hard to tell if he'll be wearing a new uniform or not. Jeremy Renner is having fun with that prospect, asking his Instagram followers if his costume is on point or not. Sadly, it's hard to make a call on that when we're looking at a shadow rather than the real deal. While we don't expect Hawkeye to change into anything too drastically different than what he's worn in The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War, it's certainly possible that there will be some subtle changes. However, Avengers 4, which is currently filming, could be a much different story.
Earlier this year, it was rumored that when we reunite with Clint Barton in Avengers 4, he will be in a "very dark place" following the events of Avengers: Infinity War. As a result, not only will be he showing off a different haircut, but he'll also be garbed as Ronin, the identity he took on temporarily in the comics following the Civil War conflict. No specific details were provided for this identity shift (I suspect something tragic will happen to his family), but assuming this information is true, then it means that at least for the beginning of Avengers 4, he won't be wearing anything close to what he's worn in his previous Avengers operations. However, assuming that Jeremy Renner's post is from the Avengers 4 production, those arrows on his back mean that eventually he'll revert back to a more classic costume, complete with his traditional weaponry.
Avengers: Infinity War arrives in theaters on May 4, 2018, and Avengers 4 will follow on May 3, 2019. As for what else the MCU has coming up, browse through our Marvel movies guide.
