Mother! Traumatized Darren Aronofsky, Now He Just Wants To Watch Rick And Morty
Weird movies are plentiful in Hollywood, and some of the weirdest over the last few decades have been provided by director Darren Aronofsky. And then there's mother!, the bizarre psychological story that came out last year which polarized critics and regular moviegoers alike with its freakish imagery and unusual allegorical structure. Well it turns out that even Aronofsky himself was disturbed during the making of mother!, so much so that he just wants to spend his free time just watching Rick and Morty and some other TV shows. In Aronofsky's words:
Rather than immediately jump back into the director's chair for a new movie, Darren Aronofsky has instead decided to take some much-needed break time after the draining experience that was mother! Aronofsky has quite the lineup of shows he needs to catch up on, from the animated, though intellectually poignant, wackiness that is Rick and Morty to Game of Thrones' epic fantasy story. With all the time Aronofsky poured into mother!, it's understandable that he fell behind in his TV watching and wants to remedy that. But even if he didn't want to see the latest season of Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith traveling to parallel universes and strange worlds, Aronofsky would still be taking a breather after finishing mother! As he explained during his interview with Indiewire:
Mother!'s basic premise revolves around a couple whose relationship is tested when strange guests arrive at their home, but for those who haven't seen the movie, rest assured, it's significantly weirder than it initially sounds. After being released in theaters in mid-September, mother! is now available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD, though if you do decide to check it out, you may want to take a cue from Darren Aronofsky and watch some Rick and Morty afterwards so that mother!'s haunting plot doesn't weigh too heavily on your mind.
Darren Aronofsky's next directorial endeavor hasn't been announced yet, but he is attached as a producer on the upcoming White Boy Rick. Stay tuned to CinemaBlend for more news on Aronofsky's next projects, and find out what's hitting theaters this year by scanning through our 2018 premiere guide.
