The Russos Celebrated Wrapping Avengers 4 With An Amazing Cake
This year and next are easily the two most anticipated in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ignoring all of the sequels, origin stories and new lands we'll be exploring, the arrival of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 have been years in the making and are the culmination of comic book dreams many have had since they were kids. While we still have several months to go before the battle with Thanos kicks off in earnest, the sequel film, the very mysterious and loosely-titled Avengers 4, has just wrapped. To celebrate the long production, an appropriately ridiculous-themed cake was made, befitting what I expect to be an absolutely wild movie.
If they tell me that's a cake I believe them, but seriously, what percentage of that thing is edible? The platform at the bottom and the platform Thanos is standing on, sure, but the rest, I don't know. It looks incredible though. Where do you even cut first to eat this cake? I'm guessing Thanos if he and the Infinity Stones are edible. Also, is there a preferred part to this cake? With the whole thing looking like a very expensive display, I wouldn't even know what to ask for. Do the above the line folks or those higher on the call sheet get to call dibs on an arm or a stone they fancy?
This cake, posted to the Russo Brothers Twitter account, has a crazy amount of detail on it, and because I can't taste it, I'm left to overanalyze and try and draw conclusions about a possibly $500 million movie a year away from what I imagine is a four figure cake. Such is fandom. Initially these movies were to be called Avengers: Infinity War with a Part 1 and a Part 2. Now the second film has the placeholder of Avengers 4 with the subheading speculated to be a potential spoiler. But I think we always assumed that Thanos was too big a villain with too much buildup to be vanquished in one film, so it is good to see him dominating this Avengers 4 wrap cake. Also, unlike the first trailer, he is rocking his signature helmet here and it looks like all of the Infinity Stones are present. We shouldn't discount the possibility that Thanos will get a full gauntlet before this duology is over, and maybe he'll bring back his helmet to complete the look.
Black Widow is also prominently represented here with her hand holding up the cake's second layer. It looks like two other hands are also present, but they are harder to identify. The symbols of the Avengers members represented on the bottom are a nice touch. It appears that the rest of the symbols are on the other sides of the cake, so we can't see if there's a Captain Marvel one on there or perhaps even characters from a different universe.
The two-part epic kicks off, when Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, and Avengers 4 will follow on May 3, 2019. For all the latest in superhero news and the comic book cake movement, stay here on CinemaBlend.
