Taraji P. Henson Looks Sexy And Chilling In Exclusive New Poster For Tyler Perry's Acrimony
She sometimes goes by the name Proud Mary. He usually goes by the name Madea. But when Taraji P. Henson and Tyler Perry reunite, they tend to create fireworks. After the two did Bad All By Myself and checked in on The Family That Preys, Henson and Perry are joining forces once again for Acrimony, and Lionsgate has given CinemaBlend an exclusive look at the newest poster for the revenge-tinged comedy drama. Take a look at this:
In the film, Taraji P. Henson plays Melinda, a faithful lover who has been standing by her man, Robert (Lyriq Bent), for far too long. She has been wronged by this man, but we don't even know the extent of the damage it has done to their relationship... and to her psyche. Acrimony looks like it's going to trace the early days of their relationship -- with Ajiona Alexus and Antonio Madison playing younger versions of the once-happy couple. But in time, we'll see how Robert strayed... and how Melinda plotted revenge.
If you missed the original trailer for Tyler Perry's Acrimony, we have that below for you, as well. It has a pretty neat twist waiting for you right in the middle. Brace for it:
As mentioned, this is not the first time that Tyler Perry and Taraji P. Henson have swung for the same fences, but there's something about Acrimony that looks extra special. Can you step back and say that it looks like the duo is trying to put their own spin on the classic Fatal Attraction narrative? To a certain extent. But Henson does "wounded and wronged" so well, while the visuals in the Acrimony trailer suggest that Tyler Perry absorbed some of the moods that his Gone Girl director David Fincher brings to a thriller. There's dread and remorse in the frames of that tease above, and the exclusive new poster we're proud to share backs up the fact that Acrimony looks stylish as all get out.
Tyler Perry's Acrimony, starring Taraji P. Henson, will be in theaters on March 30. It's the perfect antidote to the Valentine's Day romances, the Fifty Shades distractions, and the calm before the storm that is the Summer Blockbuster Season.
