How Much Of The Wasp To Expect In Avengers 4
We only have a few months left until Avengers: Infinity War debuts on the big screen, but some people are already looking ahead to Avengers 4. The consensus seems to be that some significant changes are on the horizon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with that film, and it's going to bring a ton of heroes into the fold to tell its epic story -- including Evangeline Lily's Hope van Dyne. Her presence raises some questions about how much of The Wasp we can expect to see in the fourth Avengers movie, but the actress recently opened up during an Instagram live broadcast and explained that she doesn't have a massive part in the film, saying:
So it looks like we will get some awesome Wasp action in Avengers 4. However, she's not going to be in "a ton" of scenes, which makes it sound like Joe and Anthony Russo plan to use her sparingly. It sounds like she's very much a supporting character in the movie, which is a role that she has thus far managed to excel at. Since we still know so little about where Avengers 4 will take the MCU after Avengers: Infinity War, it's impossible to know exactly what's happening with Hope. All we know for sure is that Evangeline Lily is "proud to be in there."
Evangeline Lily's recent remarks during that Instagram live session arguably aren't all that surprising. Avengers 4 is already shaping up to be a huge movie, which means the spotlight will need to be shared amongst a considerable assortment of heroes. Couple that with the fact that it could very well be the final appearance of Phase 1 classics like Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and/or Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) (if they don't die in Avengers: Infinity War), and it makes sense that Hope will show up to lend a hand, while also not taking center stage.
That said, we will still get plenty more of The Wasp before the end of this year. Ant-Man and The Wasp is coming later this year on July 6, and (true to the title) it's going to feature far more of The Wasp than 2015's Ant-Man did. In fact, the first trailer for the movie dropped earlier this week, and it already seems to promise a full-blown buddy movie that allows Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope to get their moments to shine.
Stay tuned for more updates related to anything and everything in the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ant-Man and The Wasp is lined up to hit theaters later this year on July 6, and Avengers 4 will premiere next year on May 3, 2019.
