One Deadpool 2 Character Is Going To Have A Bigger Role
Most of the focus of Deadpool 2 has been on a new character to the franchise, Josh Brolin's Cable. However, several characters, other than the star, will be returning for the sequel, and one will have a larger role than he had the first time around. According to Stefan Kapicic, who played Colossus in the original Deadpool, his character will have an expanded role in Deadpool 2 and will be important to the film's overall plot. If you're a fan of Colossus, you're apparently going to love the new Deadpool movie. According to Kapicic...
Of course, for everything that we have seen of Deadpool 2, we know next to nothing about the story to which Stefan Kapicic is referring. One of the things that Deadpool has been good with since the beginning is focusing the promotional material simply on Ryan Reynolds being hilarious, rather than anything about the actual movie. The last trailer for the new film included an extended sequence of Deadpool playing with action figures, which tells us as much about the movie as you'd think, nothing.
In the original Deadpool, Colossus was a significant, if unimportant, character. He acted primarily as the straight man for Deadpool to bounce his one-liners off of. While the role of straight man is an important one in a comedy, Colossus himself didn't really add much to the story. It seems that will change in the sequel based on what Stefan Kapicic says to Inverse. While the actor admits that Deadpool and Cable will be the focus of the film, Colossus will be important to the overall plot. Perhaps Colossus will be involved in whatever leads to Cable arriving on the scene.
We know so little at this point that just about anything is possible, and based on what Stefan Kapicic says, just about anything could happen. He says "this is just the beginning" when it comes to the surprises that we're going to get. The newest trailer included such revelations as the fact that Terry Crews is in the movie, as well as the character of Shatterstar. Neither of those things was even suggested previously, and it appears there's even more we don't know that will make fans excited for the new film. Considering we don't know who or what the opposition to Deadpool and friends will be in the new movie, there's at least one big reveal likely to take place between now and the movie's release.
Deadpool 2, or whatever it's going to be called, will be out in just over three months, on May 18.
