Star-Lord Is Going To Be A Guardian And Not An Avenger In Infinity War
When Avengers: Infinity War arrives on screens it will bring together Marvel's two biggest teams, the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, but if this is an Avengers movie, does that mean everybody is an Avenger now? Chris Pratt wants to be sure that people know that Peter Quill isn't going to change for the massive Marvel team-up. While there is clearly something Pratt wants to keep hidden, he makes it clear that the unique style of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Star-Lord specifically, won't change for Infinity War. According to Pratt...
The newest trailer for Avengers: Infinity War shows Star-Lord alongside the likes of Iron Man and Spider-Man trying to put together some sort of plan. We see him with the other Avengers more than we do with the Guardians. On the one hand, seeing all the different team up combinations is a big part of the reason a movie like Infinity War exists in the first place. However, with this being the first time we'll see the Guardians on screen without James Gunn writing and directing for them, there is the possibility that we could see the characters lose their edge and become a bit more like everybody else in the MCU. However, Chris Pratt reassures Empire Magazine that won't be happening.
Having said that, there is something regarding Peter Quill and the Avengers that Chris Pratt wants to be sure he doesn't say. The idea that he'll "let the fans decide" might imply that, while Peter Quill will continue to have the style of the Guardians, perhaps he will find himself as an Avenger in all but name over the course of Infinity War and/or Avengers 4. It's safe to assume that nothing drastic will change in the character, as we expect the current Guardians to all return for the already announced Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but that doesn't mean they will not have gone through a lot before we get there.
Knowing that Peter Quill and the Guardians will still be the characters we know is good news for those that love them. We'll see how they interact with the rest of Marvel's heroes when Avengers: Infinity War arrives April 27.
