First Incredibles 2 Trailer Is Exciting And Action-Packed, Watch It Now

Elastigirl in The Incredibles 2

Where is my super suit? I need it, because Disney and Pixar Animation Studios have dusted off the first family of animated superhero adventures, delivering The Incredibles 2 for theater consumption this summer. Brad Bird is back in the director's chair for the sequel, which just dropped its first trailer. Give it a look!

It has been a full 14 years since Pixar first introduced The Incredibles in 2004, and a lot has changed on the superhero landscape. Back then, Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire) and Batman were the biggest heroes in theaters. These days, Avengers: Infinity War might have as many as 45 heroes and villains battling. So yeah, superheroes are everywhere now. How do The Incredibles fit in, and stand out?

The answer is, they go back to what worked for them the first time. A family dynamic, that might be interrupted by the super powers they bring to the table. We get glimpses of the plot in this first trailer for Brad Bird's The Incredibles 2, with Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) being tapped for missions by a mysterious new company that wants to put "Supers" back in the public's good graces. But the trailer leans into the chaotic home life that will be led by Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) as he agrees to babysit the special Parr kids... including baby Jack-Jack, who definitely has a lot of powers.

The trailer is a blast from the past, with clever and humorous callbacks to the original movie (that don't feel forced). Frozone's wife yelling at him from off screen as he grabs his super suit to go fight crime with Bob is a sweet nod to a hilarious moment in The Incredibles, and we get a tease of the delicious Edna Mode (voiced by Brad Bird), so it's good to know the world-renowned designer will be back.

And if you stay to the end, you get your first glance at Screenslaver, the sequel's new villain:

The Screenslaver

The Incredibles 2 reaches theaters on June 15. It returns the familiar voices of Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson, Brad Bird and Sarah Vowell, while also introducing new characters played by Catherine Keener, Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Sophia Bush and the great Isabella Rossellini. We can't wait to see what else Pixar has in store for this incredible family.
