The Elevator Scene From Captain America: Winter Soldier Looks Even Cooler In Behind-The-Scenes Footage

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is approaching a massive milestone. While Black Panther continues to make money at the box office, we're just one week away from the highly anticipated arrival of Avengers: Infinity War. The upcoming blockbuster has been teased as the end of the MCU as we know it, and casual fans and cinephiles alike have been reflecting on the 10 years and 18 movies that have lead to this moment. It seems that even the cast has been feeling nostalgia, with Chris Evans revealing behind the scenes footage from his time as Captain America. He recently shared a new video rehearsing the epic elevator battle, and it may be even cooler than the finished product. Check it out.

It's sequences like this that show why Chris Evans has been so beloved during his tenure as Steve Rogers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The guy brings a natural badassery and swagger to an otherwise dorky character, and he sells each of Cap's myriad action sequences enough to get our collective hearts thumping. The elevator scene was one of the most unique fights in MCU history, and it's awesome to see how everyone worked to make the fight choreography as epic as possible.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier was first Marvel movie directed by the Russo Brothers, who ended up also helming Civil War and both upcoming Avengers movies. While the brothers have lately been working on the behemoth ensemble project and juggling characters, Winter Soldier provided a much more intimate journey, and the elevator scene is no exception. Without the help of his superpowered buddies, Captain America is left vulnerable, and he, Black Widow, and Nick Fury all barely avoid death throughout the course of the movie.

The action in The Winter Soldier is mostly among non superpowered soldiers and heroes, making it more human and high stakes than some of the bigger budget romps. In the elevator scene, Hydra members attempt to capture Steve Rogers by using a variety of high tech weapons. Ultimately Cap escapes the encounter, only barely.

You can check out the original scene below,

While Cap's signature shield was how he survived the elevator encounter, he's donning some new weapons in Avengers: Infinity War. Stakes are at an all time high for the MCU, with Steve Rogers seeming like one of the heroes most likely to die sometime in the next two blockbusters.

All will be revealed when Avengers: Infinity War arrives on April 27th. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
