Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Has Screened, Here's What Josh Gad Thinks
Many are wondering if Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be able to match the spectacle of the previous film. At least one person claims to know the answer. Actor Josh Gad has apparently been privy to an early screening of the new Jurassic World movie, and he has nothing but good things to say about the upcoming sequel. According to Gad...
It wasn't all that surprising to see the return of a franchise about dinosaurs coming back to life do well at the box office a couple of years back, but it was somewhat surprising just how well Jurassic World did, becoming one of the highest grossing movies of all time. The fact that we were going to see more of them became a certainty based on numbers like that, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the result.
It's far too early to tell if Fallen Kingdom will do Jurassic World like business, but if Josh Gad's comments are to be believed, and why wouldn't they be, it does seem clear that the sequel will bring all the spectacle that we would expect from a dinosaur movie, especially based on the trailers that we've seen. Being "blown away" by a movie that has an erupting volcano at the center of it seems just about right.
This summer is turning into the battle of the behemoth franchises. With Avengers: Infinity War already setting box office records in its opening weekend, and with the first summer Star Wars movie in years set to arrive at the end of May, Jurassic World is going to have its work cut out for it when it comes to finding its audience. As big as the previous film was, there does seem to be a real possibility that it could be buried under the pile of blockbusters that come before it. At the end of the day, however, if the movie is good enough, or at least impressive enough, the audience will come and as one of the first people who has apparently seen the complete film, Josh Gad is certainly implying that the movie is going to be impressive.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is still a couple of months away, so it will be a while before the rest of us have a chance to be blown away by it. Still, this is a solid first impression that gets me a little bit more excited than I was to check up the next entry in the franchise. The new movie hits theaters on June 22.
