Emilia Clarke Explains What She Thinks The Game Of Thrones Guys' Star Wars Movies Will Be Like

It is an extremely exciting time to be a Star Wars fan. With Disney now in charge of the property, Lucasfilm is working on a ton of new and exciting content set in the galaxy far, far away. While the current trilogy will end with J.J. Abrams' Episode IX, there are a slew of other projects being developed. Rian Johnson has a trilogy of movies, Boba Fett is getting a standalone film, and Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have also been tapped to write and produce a series of movies. The duo is currently focused on working on the show's final season, but Emilia Clarke has an idea of what their upcoming Star Wars movie would be. The Solo: A Star Wars Story actress thinks they're the perfect choice for the franchise, saying:

[They'll bring] what they brought to fantasy as a genre people are appreciating on a much grander scale. Putting all that creativity, all of that skill and all of that intellect into something that already is, or has, so much. I think it's just going to be Star Wars on acid. It will be amazing. I can't wait.

Not gonna lie, Star Wars on Acid is as movie I'd pay big bucks for. And while Emilia Clarke was kidding around, it is exciting to think about what the Game of Thrones creators might bring to the beloved franchise.

Emilia Clarke's comments to Variety show how much reverence she holds for David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. The duo changed her life by casting her as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, and it's only through her tenure as the Mother of Dragons that she's been able to book major film roles like Qi'ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Benioff and Weiss clearly know how to work within a beloved property, and Game is one of the most popular shows on TV.

It should be interesting to see how David Benioff and D.B. Weiss's cinematic sensibilities translate to George Lucas' beloved galaxy. Game of Thrones is about as polar opposite you can get to Disney, and it would be great to see the producers go a little bit darker than the Star Wars franchise ever has. Perhaps they would be able to craft stories about the galaxy's villains, as the Boba Fett movie will no doubt attempt to do. Some of GoT's best characters are its most evil, and it would be great to see that type of dynamic utilized from within the space opera.

Ultimately we're going to have to wait quite some time before David Benioff and D.B. Weiss' Star Wars movies come to fruition. Luckily there's one more season of Game of Thrones and plenty of Star Wars movies to keep us busy until then.

You can catch Emilia Clarke as Qi'ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story, in theaters now. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
