People Are Freaking Out About How Thin Johnny Depp Seems To Have Gotten
Celebrities take photos with fans all of the time, and most of those moments pass by with little comment. That's not true this time, however, as Johnny Depp was traveling around with his band Hollywood Vampires and performing in Russia. He stopped at took a pic with a fan, and the image has been rolling around the Internet for the past few days, namely because Johnny Depp is looking a whole lot thinner than the actor normally does. You can judge for yourself, below.
In the photo, Johnny Depp is wearing a casual t-shirt and jeans and striking a pose with a fan. However, he seemingly looks thinner than normal, leading a slew of fans to comment on the Instagram post about his health, posting things like "OMG I hope he's OK," as well as mentioning his gaunt appearance. Other people are speculating about whether he's just skinny or sickly, which is what often happens when people get to talking on the Internet. Regardless, Johnny Depp has never been one of those actors who bulks up for roles, and has been pretty trim throughout his life, as we've most recently seen when he got into Grindelwald getup for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
The actor has been dealing with some long and toiling lawsuits of late related to his estate and wealth management. The actor has been embroiled in multiple lawsuits with his former managers, and in March of this year he was sued by a couple of former bodyguards who cited unpaid wages and dangerous conditions as issues. In addition, it's been a little more than a year since Depp was dealing with a divorce from Amber Heard, as well.
News about celebrities not looking quite themselves has been rampant lately. A few weeks ago, a photo of Jet Li looking frail and much older than his 55 years surfaced on the Internet. It ran around for so long that Jet Li eventually went public and explained that he was "doing great and feeling great!" In that case, both age and lighting seemingly came into play.
So, perhaps in Johnny Depp's case, too, rumors of his health have been greatly exaggerated. We hope so, because beyond lawsuits and traveling with his band, Depp has quite a bit coming up in the acting realm, as well. In addition to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Depp has also completed filming on City of Lies and London Fields. Last year, he was also expected to be a part of Universal's Dark Universe, although whether or not that Universe will move forward is up in the air following The Mummy's box office. (If it does move forward, Depp is supposed to be the Invisible Man, and there has to be a joke in there somewhere.) We'll let you know how that pans out, and in the meantime, the next film in the Harry Potter universe will be out on November 16.
