Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Has Added An X-Men Star
In the past week, the cast of Quentin Tarantino's upcoming film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has really started to fill out with a remarkable amount of talent. At this point it might just be easier to say who isn't in it, because with an ensemble this huge and this star-studded, it makes you wonder if even the background extras will be big name talent. The director seemingly isn't done though because another new name has been added to the cast, former Cyclops in X-Men, James Marsden.
The actor, who can currently be seen discovering the joys and horrors of being self-aware as Teddy on HBO's Westworld, joins the cast of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in an unspecified role according to Variety. This is just the latest high-profile gig for the actor who recently landed the lead role in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Also joining the cast alongside James Marsden is American Housewife actress Julia Butters. Like James Marsden, it has also not been revealed what role the young actress will be playing.
In addition to the sheer amazingness of the cast, the mystery around some of the actor's roles just adds to the intrigue. While some actors' parts have been announced as either historical or fictional characters, others like those belonging to Tim Roth, Kurt Russell, Timothy Olyphant and now James Marsden remain a mystery. We know that the Manson family murders will play a part in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in some way, and Dakota Fanning was just added as Manson family member Squeaky Fromme. The real mystery is if Charles Manson show up in this movie, and which of the announced actors, if any, will be playing him.
James Marsden and Julia Butters are just the latest additions to the cast of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood this week following the likes of Damian Lewis, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch and Oscar-winner Al Pacino, among others. Not to mention Clifton Collins Jr., who like James Marsden, also stars on Westworld. Something tells me Quentin Tarantino might be a fan of the HBO show. Shockingly, the one person who always seems like a lock to be in a Tarantino movie, frequent collaborator Samuel L. Jackson, may not be in the film as he is currently filming the MCU's Captain Marvel.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has been described as a Pulp Fiction-esque tale set in 1969 Los Angeles that follows Leonardo DiCaprio's Rick Dalton, a former western TV star and his stunt double, Cliff Booth, played by Brad Pitt, as they struggle to make it in a changing Hollywood. Leonardo DiCaprio's character will be the next-door neighbor of Margot Robbie's ill-fated Sharon Tate in the film.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is scheduled to hit theaters on August 9, 2019, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the LaBianca murders committed by the Manson family.
