Everyone's got their own favorite Stan Lee MCU cameo, and it's not like there aren't enough to choose. Lee has appeared in every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie in one form or another. Maybe your favorite is when he was Larry King, or when he was an informant for the Watchers. But out of all of them, Lee knows which one is his favorite: his World War II veteran from Avengers: Age of Ultron. As for why it's his favorite, is it because it's the funniest? His favorite of the movies? Nope, it's simply because he got more screen time. Here's what Lee said,
One of Stan Lee's more memorable cameos came from Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the first act of the movie, Lee appears as a WWII veteran during the memorable party scene at Avengers Tower. Lee insists on drinking some of Thor's Asgardian home-brewed liquor, which Thor states is not for mortal men. Cut to the next scene and Lee is getting dragged out while drunkenly slurring "Excelsior." It's one of his funnier cameos, but that's not why it's his favorite of all his cameos. Unlike all of Lee's other roles, this one required filming two whole scenes. What a ham.
In an interview with Marvel HQ, Stan Lee stated that he hoped his Age of Ultron cameo would lead to him having longer cameo appearances. Soon enough, he'll be doing three scenes, and continuing on until the living legend gets his own movie. You're never too old to catch the acting bug! Sadly, Lee's cameos since then have all been one scene, but there are still three movies left to go before Phase 3 wraps up.
The party scene in Age of Ultron is really charming and one of the best in the entire movie. Relive it and Stan Lee's cameo in the video below.
