Avengers: Infinity War was jam-packed with fun character combinations. The movie got a ton of mileage by pairing characters like Iron Man and Doctor Strange or Thor and Rocket, and just letting their personalities clash. It was a whole lot of fun to watch, but not every character got to have screentime with each other. In fact, I'd bet that there's a group of fans who were bummed that Black Panther never met Rocket. That's as random a pairing as you'll ever get, but if youre having FOMO, Chadwick Boseman has got you covered with this awesome selfie.
Taken straight from the set of Avengers: Infinity War, Chadwick Boseman posted a picture of himself in costume as Black Panther with the puppet stand-in for Rocket Raccoon. Boseman wrote in the caption on Instagram that "he kept asking for a selfie," and asked Chris Pratt when he was going to come get his boy. It's a very fun picture, and I'm sure that the actors of Infinity War have a veritable treasure trove of photos from their time on set just sitting there on their phones. Also, how detailed is that puppet? Infinity War must have had a great puppet budget.
Despite both being present at the battle of Wakanda, Black Panther and Rocket never seem to meet. Black Panther was too busy leading his army to mingle with a talking raccoon, and Rocket was otherwise preoccupied trying to get Bucky's robot arm. (He's got priorities, you know?) I'm not sure that's the most vital pairing that we need to see by the time Avengers 4 is over, but the MCU is at its best when it just lets its library of characters interact.
As for when we can next expect to see both characters, it's a bit complicated. Rocket Raccoon will next appear in Avengers 4, where, as the last living Guardian of the Galaxy, he'll likely play a big role. Black Panther is a little trickier. Due to the immense success of the first movie, Black Panther 2 is almost definitely happening, but it is complicated by what happens to T'Challa in Infinity War. It all depends on how Avengers 4 shakes out, but we've still got a lot of time before we find out anything significant about that movie.
Avengers 4 is all set to arrive in theaters on May 3, 2019. To find out more about the movie, here's everything we know so far about Avengers 4.
