The One Darkest Minds Scene That Made The Author Cry When She Saw It
It's frequently a thrill to see your favorite book series adapted to the big screen. And when a literary property is in the hands of the talented Jennifer Yuh Nelson -- best known for her two Kung Fu Panda animated adventures -- fans can allow themselves to get even more excited for how the world might unfold on screen. The Darkest Minds, adapted from the novel by Alexandra Bracken, will be coming to theaters on August 3, and the cast -- while in San Diego Comic-Con -- swung by the CinemaBlend video suite to tell us the scene in the movie that they can't wait for fans to finally see. They explained:
Do you know which scene they are talking about? You must. And this also means that you need to have a box of tissues handy when you sit down in the theater to watch The Darkest Minds, because there will be heavy emotional beats that are integral to the finale of this movie, and even if you know what's coming -- or you were the author of the story, and conceived the ending -- it's still going to tug at your heartstrings and make the tears stream.
The Darkest Minds takes place in a world where children are feared by adults, and imprisoned because the kids are developing powers. Led by Ruby (Amandla Stenberg), a group of powerful teenagers make a break from a facility and run for their lives. Only, they face waves of opposition. Here's the cast, discussing the scene that they can't wait for fans to see.
The Darkest Minds costars Mandy Moore, Bradley Whitford, Gwendoline Christie, Harris Dickinson, Skylan Brooks and Amandla Stenberg. The movie has the potential to be the start of a YA franchise, as Alexandra Bracken has other novels in the series that are primed for adaptation. But first, people have to come check this one out. It opens in theaters in August 3. And for a full rundown of every movie reaching theaters in 2018, bookmark our handy upcoming guide.
