How Wakanda Fits Into Avengers 4, According To The Russo Brothers
With Phase 3 drawing to a close, many Marvel fans have started to look ahead to Avengers 4 and the plans that Joe and Anthony Russo will unleash upon the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There's a lot of anticipation to see how the directing duo will round out the Thanos storyline, with few concrete details indicating where the fourth Avengers movie will go. That said, they recently opened up and revealed that Wakanda would play a significant role in the aftermath of Avengers: Infinity War and the core storyline of Avengers 4. Joe Russo explained:
At the end of Black Panther, T'Challa makes a point to bring his secretive nation into the spotlight and share its resources with the world. Given the fact that half of all life on Earth (and throughout the rest of the universe) has been wiped out by The Mad Titan, it would make quite a bit of sense for Wakanda to step up to the plate and offer up its vast technical resources as the heroes and average citizens attempt to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of their defeat. That said, the Russos are very good at keeping a tight lid on things, so Joe Russo's remarks to WIRED don't fully flesh out what this is going to look like.
Of course, for T'Challa to achieve his full potential as a character, he will need to be brought back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As many of you likely remember, T'Challa is actually one of the heroes who fades away when Thanos snaps his fingers and unleashes the power of the Infinity Stones on the MCU. With that in mind, the death (or at least temporary death) of a major world leader will obviously not go unnoticed, and it stands to reason that we will likely need to see what happens to the Wakandan political sphere in the wake of T'Challa's dusting. Who knows? Maybe Avengers 4 will even show us a version of Wakanda in which Shuri has risen to the throne in her brother's absence.
With all of that said, Wakanda is only one element of an expansive storyline that Avengers 4 will offer fans. Between the fate of Scott Lang post-Ant-Man and The Wasp, the fact that Tony Stark remains trapped on Titan with Nebula and the tease of Captain Marvel at the end of Infinity War, there are plenty of vital storylines that will get their time to shine.
Until we learn more about what the Russos plan to do with the MCU in Avengers 4, you can check out Avengers: Infinity War, which is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra, Blu-ray and DVD. Looking ahead to next year, Phase 3 will come to an end with Avengers 4 premieres on May 3, 2019!
