Instant Family Trailer Is Hilarious And Heartwarming
The overwhelming consensus of people who are parents seems to be that it is a rewarding, but difficult experience. I'm guessing the difficulty mode gets raised exponentially when you go from having no kids to having three foster kids all at once. That is the premise of the new comedy Instant Family, starring Rose Byrne and Mark Wahlberg as a couple who eschew the gradual process to becoming parents, take in three siblings and must learn parenting on the fly. The film comes from writer and director Sean Anders, and it looks to have all the humor and heart you find in families of all types. Check out the trailer for Instant Family below:
The first thing that comes across in this trailer is that Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne look hilarious together. We usually think of Mark Wahlberg as an action star, but he has also been in some great comedies. As for Rose Byrne, she is a brilliant comedic actress and she looks delightful here. Their chemistry is a definite highlight of the trailer and hopefully the movie as well. The premise of Instant Family itself is ripe for comedy as these two newbies learn parenting through trial and error after they throw themselves into the deep end of the pool and instantly have a big family. This trailer shows them going from apprehensive to overconfident to in way over their head, all to humorous effect.
Some of the more slapsticky humor doesn't work as well for me, but the dialogue in this Instant Family trailer is all really funny. This trailer definitely leans a bit more into the comedy elements, but you can tell that Instant Family will also have some emotional dramatic stuff as well to balance things out. Sometimes the families you choose can mean the most to you, and this movie looks like it will embrace that and deliver some real heartwarming moments.
Instant Family comes from director Sean Anders, who previously worked with Mark Wahlberg on the Daddy's Home movies. Sean Anders also wrote the film with his writing partner John Morris. Instant Family is actually based on events in Sean Anders' life. so the director definitely knows and has a personal connection to the material here. In addition to Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne, Instant Family boasts a hilarious cast that includes Oscar winner Octavia Spencer, as well as legit standup comedians Tom Segura, Tig Notaro and Iliza Shlesinger. So this one is bursting with comedic talent. This kind of movie also really depends on the child actors, and fortunately they are all charming in this trailer, including future Dora the Explorer, Isabela Moner.
Instant Family arrives in theaters on November 16. Check out our release schedule to see all of the biggest movies still to come this year.
