Jeremy Renner Is Back On Set For Avengers 4, So Get Psyched Hawkeye Fans
Like D'Angelo Barksdale asking Stringer Bell "Where's Wallace?", fans of Clint Barton spent the lead up to Avengers: Infinity War asking, "Where's Hawkeye?" The archer was absent from trailers and marketing materials, ultimately reflecting his absence in the film, and in the wake of Infinity War, we have more questions than answers about archer. But fear not Hawkeye fans, because he will totally be in Avengers 4. Seriously! Actor Jeremy Renner is back on set doing reshoots for the Phase 3 capper, so I think its safe to started getting psyched for Hawkeye's return. Check it out:
That's right, Hawkeye fans, unless this is an elaborate bait and switch, Hawkeye won't have to be incorporated into posters for the film after the fact this time around. Jeremy Renner says it's good to be back, and it's good to have him back. The actor was well aware of the reaction his absence caused, so it has to be rewarding to let the fans know you're definitely going to be showing up this time. The OG Avenger and the actor who plays him were both sorely missed in Infinity War, but with the heroes down and out, there's no better time for Hawkeye to return.
In his Instagram post from the set of Avengers 4, Jeremy Renner includes the hashtag #letsstretchbitches, clearly following the Zombieland rule #18 to limber up. After being on house arrest following Captain America: Civil War, stretching is probably a good idea; he'll want to be in top form when he circles the wagons with the surviving Avengers to take on Thanos. We don't know what Hawkeye's role will be in Avengers 4, but there are some theories. We do know that the characters that didn't have as much (or anything) to do in Infinity War will play larger roles in this next film. So this won't be a Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Force Awakens-type situation.
My guess is that Hawkeye survived the snap, but his family didn't, giving him a heartbreaking story and motivation to ditch that ankle monitor and suit up again in Avengers 4. Sure, he's the least-powered of the Avengers, but hopefully he can help make the difference against Thanos. If nothing else, I'd like to think that Hawkeye wouldn't have messed around and would have went for the head, putting an arrow right between Thanos' eyes.
Hawkeye finally returns (and some other stuff probably happens too) when Avengers 4 arrives in theaters on May 3, 2019. Keep an eye on our guide for everything going on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and check out the release schedule for the movies still to come this year.
