Emilia Clarke And Crazy Rich Asians’ Henry Golding Join Paul Feig’s Upcoming Holiday Rom-Com
Two years after delivering the Ghostbusters reboot to the masses, director Paul Feig returned to the big screen this past weekend with the mystery thriller A Simple Favor. Starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, the movie was met with many positive reviews and has so far made nearly $21 million worldwide. But now Feig is turning to more lighthearted fare with the upcoming Last Christmas, which will see Emilia Clarke of Game of Thrones fame and Crazy Rich Asians' Henry Golding being paired together.
No plot details were Last Christmas were revealed in THR's report other than it will be a "holiday romance set in London." Emma Thompson and Bryony Kimmings are writing the screenplay. In addition to directing Last Christmas, Paul Feig will also produce via his Feigco Entertainment company alongside Thompson, Jessie Henderson and David Livingstone. Although this will mark Feig's first time working with Emilia Clarke, the director previously worked with Golding on A Simple Favor.
2018 has been a big year for both Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding. For Clarke, she appeared as Qi'ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story and played Daenerys Targaryen for the final time on Game of Thrones, which will air its last season on HBO next year. A Simple Favor won't be Clarke's first foray into the world of romantic movies, as she starred in 2016's Me Before You alongside Sam Claflin. Turning to Henry Golding, in addition to still being a presenter on The Travel Show, he made his first two film appearance this year. As mentioned earlier, he appeared in A Simple Favor as Sean Townsend, but before that, audiences saw him play Nick Young in Crazy Rich Asians, which was lauded critically and has collected over $188 million worldwide. Clearly Golding's film career is off to a strong start, and working with Paul Feig and Emilia Clarke on Last Christmas is another impressive step forward.
Paul Feig is primarily known for his work in comedy, with his other cinematic credits include Bridesmaids, The Heat and Spy. A Simple Favor marked his first time delving into dramatic territory in a movie, and while we can expect Last Christmas to not be nearly as dark, this is also outside of his usual wheelhouse. Nevertheless, both Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding are talented performers, so it should be interesting to see these two crazy kids opposite one another as love interests under Feig's direction.

You can also look forward to Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding appearing in Above Suspicion and Monsoon, respectively.
