Okoye’s Wig Snatching Black Panther Moment Is Getting Its Own Funko Pop

You can be sure when any big comic book movie comes along, the Funko Pop figures won't be far behind. Black Panther already has several, but now one of the most popular moments in the film is getting a specific figure, especially for the upcoming New York Comic-Con. The figure depicts Okoye in the red dress she wore when going undercover in South Korea, and the figure also has removable hair, referencing one of the fan favorite moments from the film.

Okoye Funko Pop with removable wig

Funko Pop figures are some of the most popular collectibles out there today and the sheer volume of them has become insane. Every major film, TV, or other pop culture property gets to take their turn as the vinyl toy with the cherubic look. There's so many of them that I'm honestly shocked that this particular design hadn't been released yet. According to Funko, this piece will be exclusive to New York Comic-Con so you'll need to attend the show to get your hands on it. It's one of several exclusive Marvel toys that also includes a Hulk vs. Hulkbuster moment from Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel Comics' Iron Heart, and more.

If you've somehow been living under a rock and haven't seen Black Panther (it's on Netflix now, you're out of excuses), the scene in question sees T'Challa and company go to South Korea in an attempt to head off Ulysses Klaue, who is selling some black market vibranium. Okoye gets made while inside a casino, and as part of fighting back, she removes the wig she's wearing and throws it in the face of the bad guy in order to throw him off balance. Check it out.

The removable hair is a nice addition, but I'm not sure how useful it really is. For the most part toys like these just sit on a shelf and collect dust, and in that state, you can either have the figure with its hair on or off, and the fact that it's removable isn't obvious from looking at it. Still, if you're a serious Black Panther fan or a serious Okoye fan, this would be a great piece to add to your collection.

With Okoye being one of the characters that we know made it through Avengers: Infinity War, expect her to have an important part to play in Avengers 4, which will certainly lead to several more new Funko Pop figures next year.
