The Charlie's Angels reboot is expanding its cast of characters and there won't just be a team of Angels. The Elizabeth Banks directed reboot will have multiple characters named Bosley, with Banks and Patrick Stewart already cast in these roles. Now, a Marvel Cinematic Universe alum has been cast as another Bosely. Djimon Hounsou, who will be appearing in Captain Marvel next year, will join the movie as the third Bosley. Now there are as many Bosleys as there are Angels.
According to Variety, Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou has been cast as Bosley, bringing the total number of Bosley's in the film up to three. No other details about the role or how it will be different from the versions played by Elizabeth Banks and Patrick Stewart were given. The film will follow the next generation of Angels, secret agents who work for the mysterious and never seen Charlie. This time around the Townsend Agency has grown beyond a three-person operation and gone global, providing security and other services with multiple offices and teams spread across the world.
The movie will focus on one of these teams, which consists of Kristen Stewart, Natalie Scott, and Ella Balinska as the new Angels. The rest of the cast includes Elizabeth Banks, Patrick Stewart, Djimon Hounsou, and Luis Gerardo Méndez as The Saint. Elizabeth Banks is directing the film from a script written by herself and Jay Basu. Earlier drafts were penned by Craig Mazin and Semi Chellas.
It's a very solid cast so far, and Djimon Hounsou certainly doesn't hurt that. The actor might be best known for his work in the MCU. He plays Korath the Pursuer in Guardians of the Galaxy and will be reprising the role in Captain Marvel, out next year. In addition to Marvel, he'll also be appearing in DC's Shazam!. In it, he plays the wizard Shazam, who gifts his magical abilities to young Billy Batson. Funnily enough, Shazam used to be known as Captain Marvel, and both superhero movies will be opening around the same time. Hounsou also nabbed a role in Aquaman as the fisherman King.
Charlie's Angels is expected to hit theaters on September 27, 2019. However, you can see Djimon Hounsou far sooner than that. Hounsou will appear in Aquaman on December 14, 2019; Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019; and finally, Shazam on April 5, 2019. This guy knows how to keep busy.
