Emma Stone Has To Get Aggressive With A Bunny In Her New Movie

Emma Stone in The Favourite

Ever since making her film debut in Superbad 11 years ago, Emma Stone has done a variety of things in her big screen roles, from helping battle super villains in The Amazing Spider-Man movies to singing her heart out alongside Ryan Gosling in La La Land. Stone's latest movie, The Favourite, sees her character trying to become close with Anne, Queen of Great Britain, and initially you might think that she wouldn't have to do anything too crazy in such a period piece. Not so, as Stone revealed that one scene in The Favourite required her to get aggressive with a bunny of all things. As Stone put it:

Well, just in the end -- I don't want to give anything away -- but I have to be a little bit aggressive in the end with a bunny. I cried my eyes out for about an hour.

Emma Stone revealed this during The Favourite's premiere at the New York Film Festival, adding to ET that although the people working behind the scenes originally told her this scene with the bunny would be a "a gentle and okay thing," it actually ended up being "very upsetting," as the actress understandably wasn't into the idea of harming an animal. Stone then clarified that the bunny wasn't really harmed and completely safe while shooting this scene, but I doubt I'm the only one now intrigued about what goes down between Stone's character and this rabbit. Does she yell at the adorable creature? Shake it? Hunt it? Stone v Bunny, let's see it go down!

Set in the early 18th century, The Favourite follows Queen Anne, played by Olivia Colman, and Lady Sarah Churchill's, played by Rachel Weisz, friendship, which is challenged when Sarah's cousin, Emma Stone's Abigail Masham, arrives, resulting in a rivalry developing between Sarah and Emma. While Stone's scene with the rabbit presumably didn't get too physical, the actress did note that there were certain scenes between her and Weisz that required some physical confrontations, i.e. giving and taking some hits. But like Stone says, moments like that come with the territory in the world of acting. The Favourite's cast also includes Nicholas Hoult, Joe Alwyn, Mark Gatiss, James Smith and Jenny Rainsford.

Directed by The Lobster's Yorgos Lanthimos, The Favourite opens to the public on November 23. If you're interested in learning what other movies are coming our before the year is finished, head over to our 2018 release schedule.
