New Spider-Man: Far From Home Set Photos Confirm A Third Costume And Surprise Location
However Peter Parker returns to the land of the living next year in Avengers 4, he won't have that long to catch his breath once Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe concludes. Just a few months later, he'll swing back into action for Spider-Man: Far From Home, and new set photos have revealed that not only will Peter be donning a third costume in this story, but it's also been confirmed that some of the sequel will be set back home, i.e. New York.
We knew that Peter Parker would be wearing his traditional Spider-Man costume in Spider-Man: Far From Home again, i.e. the one that Tony Stark made for him that he wore during Captain America: Civil War, most of Spider-Man: Homecoming and the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War. And last month, set photos showed that at some point he'll wear an all-black costume, presumably some kind of stealth suit. But now we know that yet another Spider-suit will be featured. This one looks like Peter's usual duds, except the blue areas are either black or an extremely dark shade of navy.
You can head to Just Jared to see these Spider-Man: Far From Home set photos, but for comparison, this third Spidey costume looks like the one Doctor Octopus wore in the comics when he took control of Peter Parker's body and became the Superior Spider-Man. Well, the first version of that costume anyway (as seen below), before he made the spider insignia bigger and added mechanical legs.
As for the New York of it all, we've known since June that Spider-Man: Far From Home will see Peter Parker and his friends traveling through Europe during summer vacation. That said, when it was reported that Hemky Madera was reprising Mr. Delmar, the bodega owner from Spider-Man: Homecoming, it was assumed that some of the sequel would take place in the New York/Queens area, i.e. Peter's home turf. Now we know this for a fact, as with principal photography wrapped up in various areas of Europe, the Far From Home cast and crew are now getting work done in the Big Apple.
If I had to guess, I'd say that Spider-Man: Far From Home's New York scenes take place at the beginning of the movie, before Peter Parker heads across the pond. However, that doesn't explain what the deal is with this other Spider-suit. Did Tony Stark make it for him? Is it just a recolored/upgraded version of the original? Could these scenes actually be set in the latter half of the movie, and that's when Peter obtains this new suit? Time will tell.
Marvel is keeping quiet on specific plot details for Spider-Man: Far From Home, so the only other major thing we know about the story is that the Web-Slinger will clash with Quentin Beck, a.k.a. the illusion-casting Mysterio, played by Jake Gyllenhaal. Along with other new actors like J.B. Smoove and Numan Acar joining the cast, Far From Home will also feature Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders reprising Nick Fury and Maria Hill, respectively.
Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters on July 5, 2019, so stay tuned to CinemaBlend for more updates. You can also look through our Marvel movies guide to learn what else the MCU is developing.
