Lord knows there are no fewer than 14,000,605 theories and rumors about the secretive Avengers 4, but one that actually has a leg to stand on involves Pepper Potts. Rumors are swirling that Pepper will get her own Iron Man armor in the film, based off a set photo of Gwyneth Paltrow in costume. It's a solid piece of evidence, but one news source may have slyly confirmed that Pepper will be taking flight in the blockbuster.
Deadline released an article all about the upcoming superhero films starring women, and amid mentions of Wonder Woman 1984, a female-centric Spider-Man movie, and a Scarlet Witch show, the publication almost nonchalantly stated that Pepper Potts gets armor in Avengers 4. There's no source listed, so perhaps take it with a little grain of salt, but Deadline is usually pretty good when it comes to these things.
On top of that, there's pretty solid evidence surrounding this rumor. The strongest is that there's a picture floating around the web of Gwyneth Paltrow wearing an Iron Man-like costume on the set of Avengers 4. The picture is cut off around the chest, but the suit looks pretty Iron Man-y.
Some fans have waited a long time to see Pepper get her own suit of armor. The character eventually gets one in the comics and goes by the name Rescue. The suit is non-lethal and built explicitly to aid disaster relief and save lives during emergencies. If half of the entire universe getting evaporated by a finger snap isn't a disaster, then I don't know what is.
It would certainly be fitting for Pepper to get in on the action in Avengers 4, potentially her last chance to do so. Pepper has been in the MCU since the very beginning 10 years ago, and she's mostly been relegated to the sidelines while Tony Stark flies missiles into portals or takes off to outer space to save a wizard. The Avengers lost a huge chunk of the team, so they need all the help they can get to beat Thanos once and for all.
It's anyone's guess if this will all be confirmed before Avengers 4 arrives in theaters. It's been a roller coaster week for MCU fans, who basically expected every day that a trailer was (finally) going to be released. That, of course, did not happen and the wait continues for some kind of information about this movie.
All will hopefully be revealed when Avengers 4 arrives in theaters on May 3, 2019. For more information about the epic blockbuster, here's everything we know so far.
