John Wick 3 Finally Reveals More About Anjelica Huston's Character
It's been made perfectly clear in the first two John Wick movies that the criminals Keanu Reeves' character associates with aren't your run-of-the-mill lawbreakers. These are colorful figures who follow their own set of rules and customs, and John Wick: Chapter 3, a.k.a. John Wick 3: Parabellum, will delve deeper into this strange, underworld society. One of the new people being brought in to expand on this mythology is Anjelica Huston's The Director, who Reeves described thusly:
We already knew that The Director was a high-ranking member of The High Table, the council of powerful crime lords that has the highest authority over the criminal underworld. But as Keanu Reeves told Empire, which also has an exclusive image of John Wick meeting with The Director, Anjelica Huston's character is also being used to show how there are different factions within this society with people who don't fit the traditional assassin mold.
Director Chad Stahelski also previously revealed that The Director had a hand in John Wick's "upbringing and his protection," resulting in John Wick: Chapter 3 feeling a little bit like an origin story. Whether or not the Eastern European-born Director still has a soft spot for John during the next movie remains to be seen, but their paths will definitely cross, and knowing John, he's going to be extra cautious around her since she's part of the group that's out for his head.
When we left off with John Wick at the end of John Wick: Chapter 2, he'd been forced to go on the run for killing Santino D'Antonio, a newly-minted High Table member, on Continental grounds, and the existing bounty on John's head had been doubled to $14 million by the other High Table members. With his underworld connections and resources also stripped away, John Wick: Chapter 3 will see John trying to escape New York City and killing anybody who stands in his way.
Along with The Director, we'll also meet fellow High Table members The Adjudicator, played by Asia Kate Dillon, and The Administrator, played by Robin Lord Taylor. Other new characters being introduced in John Wick: Chapter 3 include Halle Berry's Sofia, Marc Dacascos' Zero and Jason Mantzoukas' Tick Tock Man, while the familiar faces returning include Ian McShane's Winston, Lance Reddick's Charon and Laurence Fishburne's Bowery King (Common will not be back as Cassian).
John Wick: Chapter 3 opens in theaters on May 17, 2019, so stay tuned to CinemaBlend for more updates about this movie and the future of the franchise. If you're curious about what other movies are coming out next year, look through our 2019 release schedule.
